I mentioned yesterday that there is a good chance I was stepping out of the the 1-3 unit box tonight and posting a big play. Im not calling it a GOY because, quite frankly, there are 6+ months left of hockey left so to say now that I wont like any plays more than I like this one is a little crazy. What I can say is that I havent liked a play yet this season as much as I like this one. So, since there are only a few days left in the month, Im making this my November GOM. Although, oddly enough, I may play a game on Saturday night just as large but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.
73/74 Chicago/San Jose Over 5 1/2 -120 8 Units
We are going with a matchup involving two of the top scoring teams in the league. Number 1 (San Jose) and Number 3 (Chicago) actually. They also rank #1 and #6 respectively in the NHL in SOG. And thats very important because this game does involve two strong goalies. SJ just peppers opposing goalies with shots on a nightly basis. They average 37 shots a game!!! Another item worth noting is that Nabokov is back for this game after a 7 game absense. Hey may be a bit rusty, but Im not counting on or against that one way or the other. The Hawks have their hands full tonight defensively as they rank a weak 27th out of 30 NHL teams in GAA. They give up almost 3 1/2 goals a game and themselves score a little more that. The bulk of this game, imo, will be played in the offensive zones and we need 2 goals a period to cash. I am extremely confident that happens.
Back later with the rest of the NHL. GL all.
