With the Ducks graduating 62 percent of their offense from last year’s team (Malik Hairston - 16.3 ppg, Maarty Leunen - 14.9 ppg, Bryce Taylor - 12.8 ppg), someone was going to have to pick up the scoring slack. Sophomore forward LeKendric Longmire, from Pascagoula, Miss., has done just that. He is tied with Tajuan Porter for the team lead in scoring (15.0 ppg) and is the only Duck to score in double figures in each of their first three games.
His career-high entering the season was 14 points, a number he surpassed in the first half against Oakland last week. Longmire finished with a game-high 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field (3-of-4 on 3-pointers), while still contributing his trademark defense (2 blocks, 1 steal).
On the year, he is shooting 51.5 percent from the field (17-of-33) and an astounding 75.0 percent on 3-pointers (6-of-8). Compare those numbers to last season, Longmire was just 4-of-12 on 3-pointers and he averaged 3.8 points per outing while playing in 28 of UO’s 32 games.
BAMA lost to MERCER and is not real strong. I think both teams are mediocre at best--take the points here.
