Chado's NHL GOY for Friday!!! (11-4 All-Time on Bettorschat for 73.3%)!!!
Alrighty fellas like I stated in the title of this thread I just went back and checked and my All-time posted GOY record since I joined bettorschat back in June of 2006 is 11-4 hitting at 73.3%. So needless to say I dont pop these out frequently unless I really feel strong about a pick and tonight is another perfect spot for one. This will be my one and only GOY for the 2008/2009 NHL season. Heres my breakdown:
The Boston Bruins are one of the hottest and surprising teams in the NHL this year with a record of 12-3-4 and are also 8-1-1 in their last 10 games BUT here come the Florida Panthers into Boston tonight who have literally OWNED the B's over the last several seasons. As for most of my GOY's I search for great spots such as this one where a let down should happen here. With every good team they have an achilles heel and this for the Bruins in the Florida Panthers. My good buddy is a HUGE Bruins fan and he always talks about how the Panthers absolutely own them and no other team in the league has such dominance against his B's. Craig Anderson gets the start tonight for Florida and he is 3-1-1 on the season with a save percentage of 94% and a GAA of only 2.08!!! He has also boasted a road record this season of 2-1-1 giving up only 8 goals in 244 minutes of action for a GAA of an even better 1.97 and save percentage of 94.7%!!! Lets also add to the equation with Anderson that he is 2-1 in his career against the Bruins in 183 minutes of action he has a GAA of only 1.64 and a save percentage of 95.5%!!! He has a shutout against the Bruins and also has only given up a total of 5 goals against them ever!!! Now lets take a look at Boston's starting goalie tonight in Tim Thomas. Over his career against the Florida Panthers is a HORRIBLE 1-5-1!!! In 410 minutes of action he has given up a total of 34 goals against the Panthers and with a save perntage of a putrid 85.7% and a GAA of a disgusting 4.97!!! The Panthers have beaten the Bruins 8 of the last 10 times!!! They won BOTH meetings last year on the road at TD Banknorth Garden and have also beaten the B's in their last 5 STRAIGHT games!!! There will not be more value on a game like this all season IMO so lets do this here. Also we are going to lay the juice on the puck-line as opposed to the moneyline for security here to ensure a winner should it be a one goal game, go to overtime, or a shootout, it would win!!! The reason we are doing this also is because throw in the fact that in the only two times the Bruins beat the Panthers over their last 10 games they were both by only 1 goal!!! This means they havent beaten the Panthers by more than a goal in over 10 tries!!! The last time Boston beat Florida by 2 or more goals was 11 meetings ago on nov 3rd of 2005 in a 4-1 win which hasnt happened over 3 years!!!
