Northerly winds gusting at 20 mph and higher will reach the Houston area as the first of three dry cold fronts moves in, according to the National Weather Service.

The first cold snap will reach the area by about 9 p.m., said Kent Prochazka, a meteorologist with the weather service. It is moving quickly from the north Pacific and temperatures tonight will dip into the low 50s, he said.
