I went 2-2 last weekend in CFB but love the card this weekend. I narrowed down from 18 plays to ten and am playing my top six now including my biggest of the year. I may add a couple of the opinion plays later.
FRIDAY:
2* UNLV -7
What a great spot to go against Wyoming. They're coming off their huge upset of Tennessee and play a second consecutive road game and have to do it on a short week. Wyoming has absolutely no offense and UNLV should cover if it gets to 20 points. The Rebels are hitting their stride with a home win last week against New Mexico and can still get bowl eligible if they win out. Don't worry about QB Omar Clayton being out; his backup Clausen is playing very well.
SATURDAY:
4* Game Of The Year Wisconsin -13
Wisconsin is a very talented team that let its season get away from it. Their 2-5 conference record is misleading as one loss was a narrow one to Ohio State and another was a one pointer at Michigan State. They're getting their act back together after destroying Indiana on the road. Wisconsin's running game is devastating right now with redshirt freshamn John Clay, 2010's Heisman winner, and three year starter PJ Hill both averaging over six yards a carry the last three weeks. Minnesota started strong against a weak schedule but was slaughtered by Michigan in their second straight home loss. They're wearing down. Minnestoa hasn't beaten a truly good team all year and five of their seven wins shouldn't count (Montana State, Bowling Green, Florida Atlantic, Northern Illinois and Indiana). This is a big rivalry game and Wisconsin players are obsessed with keeping the Paul Bunyan Axe. That, and finally getting some momentum, should lead to a blowout.
3* Louisiana Tech -13
Here's another team getting very good as the season winds down. LT is always strong at home but shutout a decent San Jose State team on the road last week. Utah State has to be worn out after upsetting Fresno, traveling last week to Boise and now traveling across the country. LT can't pass it all---worst pass game in America---but they have a great running game and Utah State can't stop the run.
1* NC State +3 1/2
I see a straight up upset here. NC State played decently in three losses to BC, Flor State and Maryland before beating Duke on the road last week. Wake Forest is coming off two tough home wins and is vulnerable here.
1* Washington +7
Don't laugh. I think they finally get their win here. Washington may be 0-9 but they have playued a brutal schedule and showed slight signs of life last week. UCLA got beat up by Oregon State last week and may make the mistake of taking Washington lightly.
1* Ohio State -10
Ohio State is destroying every Big Ten team they play (other than Penn State) and is coming off a blowout of Northwestern. Guess what? Northwestern is better than Illinois. Beanie Wells and Netrelle Pryor should put up big stats. Reminder: Illinois beat Ohio State last year and while revenge is ridiculously overrated, it may be a factor here.
