  • Kaptains "10* HIASIGO in NCAA BB"

here's 2 teams that are playing tonight and the respective lines....

    517 IUPUI
    518 N'Eastern

    Line is N'Eastern - 6 1/2/total at 127 1/2

I feel as IUPUI is not only gonna stay close, I feel they win outright.......

    here's my projected score....
    IUPUI 64
    N'Eastern 61........

    IUPUI + 6 1/2 -110..............................................1 0* HIASIGO

I know it's early in the season for a 10* HIASIGO, but IUPUI has some good 3 pt shooters on their team.....This lil school never gets the respect the deserve....IMO

Don't make me go Cajun on your Ass!

Wow too bad we aren't on the same page on this one Kapt. Hopefully we will be more often than not in the future but today I can't go against 5 returning starters vs a young IUPUI team missing their best player.

GL old timer, lets make some money tonight.

                      IUPUI
Strengths: Despite key losses, the Jaguars have the second-best group of newcomers coming in of the Summit League, next to Oakland. Players like point guard Larry Stone and forwards Robert Glenn and Alex Young are poised to immediately contribute and become instant scorers. Guard Gary Patterson and forward Jon Avery spent last year in the shadows of George Hill and Austin Montgomery, but now have the chance to step up and become leading players. Expect that to happen, as both have all-conference potential. This is a quick team that has solid on-ball defenders and can create numerous turnovers, spelling trouble for opponents.

Weaknesses: By being quick, the Jaguars give up a lot in the frontcourt. IUPUI has only two players taller than 6-7, which could be a problem when it goes up against bigger conference foes such as North Dakota State. Although Patterson and Avery have the scoring skills, the fact of the matter is that it will be difficult to replace Hill, the 2007-08 conference player of the year, and Montgomery, the team's second leading scorer and 3-point shooter. Those two created offense for others when they were being double-teamed, but Jaguars players won't have that luxury now.

Scouting the newcomers: Three of IUPUI's eight newcomers already have knowledge of each other, having played in the Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Series. The Jaguars' best recruit is a toss-up between forwards Robert Glenn and Alex Young and guard Larry Stone. Glenn was a junior-college honorable mention All-American last season, averaging 19.3 points and 6.2 rebounds a game. Look for him to log significant minutes in the frontcourt and perhaps even earn a starting spot at some point in the year. He'll be competing with Young, who was named the Indianapolis City Player of the year after averaging a double-double of 18.6 points and 13.7 rebounds a game. Both newcomers should provide solid depth inside and contribute immediately. With a need for a point guard now, IUPUI will likely turn to Stone, who is also from Indianapolis and set a state record with 19 steals in a game. He also averaged 22.8 points last season and seems ready to take over the reins. Aaron Morris is another forward who has a chance to see early time, as the 6-6 freshman is one of the three who played in the aforementioned All-Star Series, along with Young and Stone. More interior depth will be provided by 6-9 freshman Cameron Loepker, 6-8 freshman Jason Smeathers, 6-8 juco transfer Anthony Williams and 6-7 Christian Siakam, who redshirted last season.

                          Northeastern
Strengths: After a pair of consecutive 9-9 seasons in conference play, Northeastern brings a seasoned, battle-tested team into this year. With a strong backcourt led by All-CAA player Matt Janning and an athletic frontcourt that can score and rebound, Northeastern has a balance that will be able to exploit whatever weakness an opponent possesses.

Weaknesses: If Northeastern has any weakness, it's that it needs to improve its offensive production. The Huskies averaged only 63.4 points a game last year. Improved 3-point shooting would help; Northeastern hit at only a .313 clip, which tied for last in the CAA.

Scouting the newcomers: Coach Bill Coen added only one freshman this year, Erik Etherly, an athletic 6-7 wingman from Alexandria, Va.'s, Annandale High. Long-armed and quick, he's expected to be a force on defense.
