I went 2-1 yesterday in the NFL after a 2-0 college Saturday. Unfortunately, the loser was on the lone 2* play of the weekend (Bills). I won yesterday with Green Bay and Minnesota. My NFL picks have been lagging my college badly (NFL is usually my strongest sport) and my 2* plays, normally my strength, have been only mediocre. On balance, I'm picking more winners than losers (58 percent on the year) so I expect the overall numbers to keep getting better.
Tonight's pick was posted last week in my football thread and while the line has moved up, I still consider it a play below 3 points.
1* Redskins -1 1/2
(As mentioned above, the line has moved since the play was originally posted by me last week.) I don't want to get whipsawed here as I played the Steelers last week and lost but the NFC East is the class of the NFL this year and the Redskins are one of the league's most surprising teams. If Pitts couldn't beat the Giants at home, why should they beat the Skins on the road? Much like last week when Tennessee used a Monday night game to prove to the country that it is for real, look for the Redskins to make a statement tonight. Washington QB Campbell still hasn't thrown an interception! In a league where turnovers are key, that's huge.
