I love this play. Here are the reasons. Sonnastine is a fly ball pitcher averaging just about one fly ball/ground ball. He is also a finesse pitcher as his K+BB/IP ratio is .83. So hitters are going to make contact and they are going to be hitting in the air in this small ball park. He could be on his game and pitch a great game, but if he is off its hammering time. Same thing applies to Blanton. He is a finesse pitcher and is pretty close to being a fly ball pitcher. All it takes is for one of these guys to be off and were going to be seeing a lot of runs in the ballpark tonight.
