The kicker heard the officials blow the whistle for the timeout thats why he slowed up his motion....he wouldnt have necessarily missed it had the whistle not been blown while in progress of taking the kick IMO...

I don't think he should get fired but I'm getting very tired of these late pre-snap timeouts. I believe these timeouts are to the advantage of the kicking team. Many late second FG attempts are chaos. The timeouts allow the kicking team to compose themselves.

Also, as in my other thread. FG kickers are very good. They are professionals. I no longer believe you can 'freeze' a NFL kicker.

There was a small article in yesterday's NY Daily News about how good NFL kickers have become. This season they are converting almost 90% of FG attempts. Two decades ago NFL kickers only converted about 67% of FG attempts.

And they've tried all kinds of shit to stop kickers from being so effective. They've tried slicking the balls up. They've tried freezing the "K" balls. They even put in that rule years ago to move the starting point for the opposing team to the kicking point rather than the line of scrimmage when a kicker misses.

I hate these coaches having the ability to call timeout. It was much better when the players on the field had to call it so this stuff didn't happen.
