  • 4 Redskins starters sit out vs. Eagles

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Four starters for the Washington Redskins, including three on defense, sat out Sunday's game against Philadelphia while running back Brian Westbrook returned to the lineup for the Eagles.

Defensive end Jason Taylor and cornerback Shawn Springs sat out with calf injuries for Washington. Taylor had surgery on Sept. 22 and Springs was injured in last week's game against Dallas. Fred Smoot started in place of Springs.

Redskins linebacker Marcus Washington sat out with a hamstring injury and was replaced by H.B. Blades. On offense, Jon Jansen started for tackle Stephon Heyer (shoulder) for the second straight week.

For the Eagles, Westbrook was back in the lineup after sitting out last week against Chicago with an ankle injury.

Eagles guard Shawn Andrews (back) sat out his third straight game and was replaced by Max Jean-Gilles.

Also inactive for Washington were safety Justin Hamilton, offensive lineman Chad Rinehart and defensive end Rob Jackson.

For Philadelphia, linebacker Joe Mays, defensive ends Bryan Smith and Victor Abiamiri, guard Mike McGlynn, receiver Kevin Curtis and tight end Matt Schobel were inactive.
