  • Question--Anyone live near Wrigley confirm wind direction?

With the super nasty low system and associated cold front that blew threw there this afternoon I am trying to ascertain if the winds are in fact 15 to 20MPH blowing from LEFT to RIGHT or across Wrigley and maybe somewhat OUT TO RIGHT??? That would make a difference for the over/under if is! T.I.A TO All!! GoldV

        Thanks BC BUT:

I have several weather links and that data is pulled off the nearest reporting site sensor groups which are normally quite some distance from the park. Also those reports are hourly even though sampled every minute. Midway and Ohare for example have a couple each but they are not near the park. Thought maybe the Lakes MAY have a slight steering effect futher towards the stadium.

I guess the bottom line was I looking to see if any balls driven to right-center or right field would have a boost by these gusty winds tonight (which are suppoosed to drop to between 10-15 after first pitch tonight).

        THANKS AGAIN BC...Gv

Someone posted on gamblerstalk that the wind is blowing from right field to left. And that the temp will be around 54 and cold.

            Goldvike,

I've lived in Chicago for 6 years and attended many games in Wrigley Field. Spoken from experience, if it's 54 degrees, the wind is blowing in

              Thanks bobt!

I will make my assessment on fact the wind is blowing in towards home plate then (essnetially knocking down any ball from left center or right......thanks.....thought maybe a slight advantage to lefthanded hitters but I will scrap that then! Thanks again...Gv

I have a friend that lives in chicago. She said that the wind is blowing hard and also said its around 50 Degrees.

She said it should be blowing out.

But from everything she has always told me has been wrong on the wind direction, So my guess is its blowing in and with all the rain and the low temp, the ball won't be flying that well.

                  So I played under 7 :D

                  Just my two cents

                  Good luck tonight

It is very windy in NY tonight - and it's supposed to continue through tomorrow. Since the start time is 4pm (due to the Cubbie collapse), it should have an affect on the game.

Can anyone give some insight as to what wind direction will impact the game the most??

                              wind alert

OK - I did some looking into - the forecast is for the wind to blow 30-35 mph tomorrow OUT OF THE WEST.

This will have a huge affect on the game - can anyone confirm what direction west to east is in Yankee Stadium??
