Originally posted by mark30the Phils havent been playing to bad either. They came into September 3 games back to the Mets. They ending up 3 games up. Since September 1st ther 19-8. Right now the pitching is picking up for the bats. It's only a matter of time before they wake up. Plus if they play the dodgers, The phils have home field.
Things can change in a heartbeat, and believe me, as good as it looks right now for Philadelphia and LA, either one of them or both could still lose the current series.

Look at the stats of all of them the last six weeks.

Who?
THE REFORMED CLOSER HAS 17 WINS AND AN ERA UNDER 3.00
THE CRIPPLE IS 10-2 WITH A 2.07 ERA AND HAS 181 STRIKE OUTS IN 148 INNING AND HITTERS ARE HITTING .183 AGAINST HIM
BOSTON
TAMPA
CUBS
DODGERS
ANGELS
TORONTO
ALL OF THE ABOVE HAVE A HUGE ADVANTAGE IN PITCHING OVER THE PHILLS

Just talking my team and yours, i'll take Beckett, Lester and Dice-K, 8 days a week over Hamels, Moyer and that wife beating, fly off the handle nut bag named Myers. Last time he pitched in Boston, he beat his wife and imploded on the mound, both here in Boston. Let's match postseason numbers with all 6. After all, the Cubs proved it's not the regular season anymore and i'm willing to match postseason numbers with you on them as well.

I will right now take Philly's starters against any other single team's starters.
When both are eliminated (or one wions the series), my bet is the Phillies starters will have the better stats. You can use WHIP, ERA hits/innings or any criteria. I'm just telling you I watched a lot of baseball in September and hamels and Myers have been spectacular.
As for the Cubs, Zambrano is clearly hurt and Dempster looked awful.
I do like the Red Sox starters a lot. You may have me ther but I'll still make my challenge.
Do not misunderstand----I am not referring to performance in the 2008 season i am referring to those starters right now.
