This time of the year is a difficult one when handicapping baseball. But it can be a profitable one if you pick your spots correctly, and I think we have one tonight.
The Dodgers clinched the NL West earlier today when the Dbacks lost to the Cardinals, meaning this game is now meaningless to LA...I expect Torre to rest a starter or two against peavy, who is 3-0 1.71 era against LA this year and 12-1 2.11 era in his career...Peavy is making his first start since the birth of his son, i'm sure he'll be fully ready to go in his last start of the year against a team he's always had success against....Then you got Greg Maddux, who was acquired from san diego a month ago... Maddux lost his last start giving up 7 runs 9 hits in 5 innings. Maddux lost his last start against the Padres going 6 innings giving up 7 hits 4 runs....I'm thinking 6-2 Padres tonight...Good luck everyone!!!

Adding a late play here, just saw the Yankees lineup and it looks liike their resting A-Rod and Jeter tonight against Halladay who is 4-1 with a 2.50 era against NY this season... BlueJays starting their regular lineup against Pavano and Halladay needs a win to finish the season with 20 wins for the first time since 2003...I'm taking BlueJays -185 for 3* and ny/tor total under 4 1st 5 inning -110 *1
