Although I hit my top play on Alabama (blowout winner), I was only 2-3 last weekend in CFB thanks to a tough loss on Auburn and a brutal beat on San Jose State.
2* Ohio State -18
The Big 10 season is starting and Ohio State's dominance will return. Almost everyone is back from last year and the freshman QB is getting a major vote of confidence from normally conservative Tressel. OSU needs to get its mojo back with a blowout. Indiana was exposed last week when blown out by Ball State.
2* San Diego State -11
SD isn't that bad. They played Notre Dame even for three quarters. They come off a bye badly needing a win and who better than awful Idaho to get it against? Idaho got smacked around in the fourth quarter by Utah State, one of the few games Idaho has a chance of winning. They'll be weary playing on the road again against a superior team hungry for a win.
1* Notre Dame -1
I looked brilliant when I played ND two weeks ago against Michigan and looked dumb when I took them last week at Michigan State. We'll find out this week if I am right about them being much improved. Charlie Weis won big with Bob Davie's recruits and I just can't believe he won't deliver big results with the highly touted players he's brought in himself. Not only is ND at home, Purdue is a mid-pack Big 10 team at best.
1* California -26
Cal is never shy about running up the score against overmatched opponents. Colorado State has a very poor defense and an inexperienced QB having to make a start on the road. Cal has had two weeks to prepare after the upset by Maryland and will make an inferior opponent pay.
1* Michigan +6
When was the last time Michigan was nearly a one touchdown dog at home in a conference game? They are down this year but this line seems to be an overreaction. Wisconsin has Ohio State and Penn State on deck and may actually be looking past Michigan (it sounds weird just saying it). remember that Michigan almost beat Utah in week one and Utah is turning out to be pretty good.
Opinions only:
San Jose State (Hawaii is bad)
Texas (Arkansas is bad)
Oregon (Wash State is bad)
New Mex State (New Mexico is bad)
NFL:
I'll write these up later but am playing them now at these lines:
2* Bucs -1
1* Cowboys -11
