In CFL a one point play is called a rouge. It is awarded to a team who misses a FG but kicks it long enough that it goes out of the back on the endzone OR if the receiving team returns the missed FG but does not make it out of the endzone conceding the single point or rouge. After a team is awarded a rouge the opposing team gets the ball on their own 35 to attempt a drive of their own. Hope this explains things about our wacky one point play in Canadian football..
