    Linebackers

This is one of those discussions for which there is no clear cut right or wrong answer....the minute you provide a list - someone responds with "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING LEAVING SINGLETARY OFF THIS LIST?!?!?!"

...but seriously, what were you thinking?

A few names to consider when you speak of LB's.

    # 1 Jack Lambert
    # 2 Dick Butkus
    # 3 Ray Nitchskie
    # 4 Chuck Bednaric
    # 5 Mike Singeltary

And this took 10 seconds....there are many, many more...including Lewis who is a 1st ballot HOF'er.
The Harder I work - the luckier I get.

Vol, in post #12 i said Lewis is great. He is! I think he was voted #7 or #8 greatest linebacker in history on the NFL Network.

IMO too many athletes in this era are over-HYPED by ESPN. Too many athletes get way too much air time that aren't deserving. Mr Ocho Cinco immediately comes to mind. Another is TO. TO is great. Arguably the best receiver of this decade but ESPN has a fucking love affair with him.

Last night, ESPN was showing the best moments of the week. Leading off was TO. Why? Because he became he's second in TD receptions in NFL history. What athlete get's that much air time for being 2nd. Next on their list was Jeter passing Gehrig in all time hits at Yankee Stadium. I'm neither a Yanks or Jeter fan. However, IMO this is a greater feat PASSING (not runner-up) one of the all-time greatest baseball players.

        Hall of Famers:
        Harry Carson
        Ted Hendricks
        Andre Tippet
        Jack Ham
        Sam Huff
        Nick Buoniconti

        NON-Famers
        Pat Swilling
        Ricky Jackson
        Sam Mills
        Carl Banks
        Derrick Lewis (died @ 33)

I'm not suggesting which are better than Lewis. I'm only throwing some names into the discussion.

No doubt to T.O and Johnson getting to much hype.Jeter has kept his nose clean all his career and like you said thats not as big a story to them because you have drama queens like T.O.
