I won last night with the Cubs who, despite Milwaukee's wretched slump, were a slight dog.
1* Phillies +119
Philadelphia, a team with great pitching AND hitting, is finally putting it together. They've won five in a row and have passed the Mets for the NL East lead. The Braves are playing OK and Jurrjens is a good pitcher but getting underdog odds on a surging team in a pennant race is irresistible.
1* Cubs -114
Milwaukee finally showed a little fight in last night's loss but it was, in the end, another loss. The Cubs are putting away the NL East right now and are playing great at home. The pitching matchup is dead even if you look at current form (Marquis has been outstanding) so take the small favorite against a team that is choking away its season.
Opinion only:
Giants (getting a big number against another choke team)
PREDICTIONS:
If Milwaukee doesn't make the playoffs, its GM, Doug Melvin will also be fired along with Yost (already axed).
Arizona is certain to fire Bob Melvin (no relation to Doug) after the season is over.
If the White Sox don't make it, Ozzie Guillen will finally be canned.
In baseball, there is a price to pay for September collapses.
