Struggling Brewers ax Yost, promote Sveum as interim manager
    Sep. 15, 2008
    CBSSports.com wire reports

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers have fired manager Ned Yost in the midst of a late-season slump that has jeopardized the team's chances of making the playoffs for the first time since 1982.

Third-base coach Dale Sveum will become interim manager for the remainder of the season.

The Brewers have lost seven of their last 10, and share the NL wild-card lead with Philadelphia

What a ballsy move!! They're still tied for the wildcard lead and they can their manager.

I posted a few weeks ago the Brewers would never make the playoffs with this idiot. Now,.......they have a chance'

Great dramatic move to jumpstart a sagging team.

Bench coach Ted Simmons also fired.

Ned Yost was a great manager and made all the right moves in the late innings.

There's been a lot of rumbling that Yost angered other players by not standing up to the cancer in the dugout....Prince Fielder.

Don't be surprised if Fielder is traded in the off-season and Sveum is kept as permanent manager, whether the Brewers make the playoffs or not.

Trading Fielder is losing a potential big bat which would hurt. Bill Hall is another cancer that they have. He is someone that definately needs to go in the off season. Fielder is just a pre-madona who needs to be brought down a level.

You will never get the talent level back for Fielder that he should get, so trading him will be very hard. If the Yankees had any farm system I bet they would look into trading for him.

I'm guessing that is why they haven't given him that extension he's looking for? I'd be worried about that guy eating himself out of MLB! I know you may not current market value for him, but I don't see that guy having a long career, especially in the National League where he actually has to bend over.

Prince Fielder is hitting .258 with 25 homers. More than half the first basemen in the NL are better than that.

His obnoxious attitude----I'm a vegetarian, I'm the team leader---I only bat fourth, etc---cut even further into his worth. Milwaukee isn't hitting. His failure is a big part of it.

Still, Yost was a huge problem. His tightness has made the team tight. I think they may turn it around with hom gone.

Houston's not that good and the Phillies are the only other team they have to beat

My only hope is that Gagne is out the door as well carrying Yost's bags. It seemed like Yost had a man crush on this guy putting him in games when the Brewers DIDN'T have a 15 run lead.

I think that baseball has a new blow save stat called a "gagne" when you blow a 7+ run lead! I think that he will have job next year as a BP pitcher for the home run derby!
Get the best line possible....or you can just gamble!
