Absolutely it is pretty far fetched, but if you options are letting them score, getting the ball back with 30 secs left and having to go the length of the field, or hoping for a fumble from a guy who does not fumble...imo, letting them score and having to go for 2 scores gives you your best odds, albeit low.

And their best offensive threat is their returner.....
