Need Help - Please Everyone Read This

I know this is a sports forum; however, I would like to make a post that is non-sports related. A group of us have a friend, Tom Fowler, who had a horrible accident about a month ago. Tom was checking out his deer stand and he fell from it and broke his neck. Tom was out of work and so has no insurance. He has been in ICU and on a respirator until last Monday and has lost the use of both his arms and legs. This group of friends are having fund-raisers to help defray the cost of construction on his and his girlfriends’s house to make it wheelchair accessible, etc. One couple has donated a pair of Chief’s tickets to the November 23, 2003 Chiefs/Oakland game to be played here in Kansas City and we are trying to raffle them off. The raffle tickets are $2.00 per ticket (winner would receive both Chiefs tickets), and anyone interested could just mail me a check for however many raffle tickets they would like, along with their name, address and phone number and I will enter them in the raffle. If you are interested please send me a PM and I will let you know who to make it out to and where to send the check. We are planning to draw the winning raffle ticket on November 19th, and should anyone on the forum win, I will overnight the tickets to them. I would also post the winning name, whoever that may be, on the forum on that day. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and good luck to everyone today.

We had a young guy down here that was a Senior football player in High School that got hit and it paralyzed him. What people did was they got businesses to donate items to be sold off at a silent auction. It was good publicity for the businesses and for a worthy cause.

Once they got this they were able to get a building donated to have the event. In turn the local media picked it up as well as the local newspaper. They raised quite a lot and had a committee that would over see how the funds would be distrubited towards helping him.

Then a local business man came in and bought his family a home.

I would strongly suggest trying something like this as it never hurts. If you can get any of the local media stations to pick it up that would be a huge help. Or even a local newspaper.

I would even contact the Chiefs and Royals organizations as they may be willing to help as well.

Thanks Wiz. I appreciate you helping out. A bunch of Tom's friends went to the hospital today to watch the Chiefs game with him and man you should have seen that heart monitor. Again, thanks for your help.
