An amazing 11-12 in redzone conversions and over 50% in third down conversions. Rice has an experienced QB (back to back 300 yd pass 100 yd rush games) who holds the school record now in yardage and strong skill players at WR (Dillard is amazing) and TE who put on shows last week. They have a strong young RB as well who may come back this week after being out and could provide a little more balance
Vandy may have a hangover after knocking off South Carolina (there first home win against a ranked team in 16 years) and may be looking ahead to Miss. Vandy will score, but if you look more at the game they only had 50 yards in the first half of the SC game and only really got going off a series of turnovers. I am not sold on the Vandy QB. Rice also has an opportunistic defense that turns the ball over and won against Memphis on a pick.
Vandy I think tries to keep Rice off the field with the running game. But when Rice has the ball can Vandy stop their passing attack? I don't think they can single cover Dillard and that would open up the TE. They may blitz, but I think Rice can handle it. Vandy's best nickel back, who had an interception return result in a broken leg is also out for the game.
So I guess the way I see it Vandy may win, but really will have to go score for score and I don't think they can, so I am taking the points.
Rice is 23-9 SU when scoring 30 or more points
Rice is 15-6 ATS as an underdog last 3 seasons
Rice is 18-4 ATS after playing a conference game last 3 seasons
Rice is 20-8 ATS off a SU Win
Vandy is 9-22 ATS off BB ATS wins
Rice is 4-1 last 5 on the road
Vandy is 2-4 SU in its last six games
Now after all that watch this play bomb. Good Luck
