Record: 1-0
Rice got off to a rough start last week, but came through for me in the end to get the season off on the right foot. I don't play totals often, but I found one that I like, so what the heck.
Tulsa/North Texas Over 60
There were 2 Tulsa games last year that would have gone under this total and both of them landed just shy at 52. After returning 9 offensive starters, the only question mark this year was the play at QB. I think those questions were answered last week when Johnson went 20/24 for 332 and 3 TDs.
Meanwhile, North Texas had games last year where they gave up 79, 74, and 66 points. Clearly, they've shored up the defense after giving up 42 points in the first 3 quarters against K-St. last week before the backups rolled in.
I think Tulsa easily reaches into the 40s into this one and if NT shows any signs of life, then they'll push into the 50s by themselves. Tulsa's D pitched a shutout in the 2nd half of last week's game, but not before giving up 400+ yards to an anemic UAB offense. This unit may be improved from last year, but it really wouldn't take much. Dodge's offense will undoubtedly come out firing and should find the endzone a couple times.
I think this one goes way over. Prediction:
Tulsa 52 - North Texas 31
