      Saturday's six-pack:

-- Eagles had kick return and punt return for TD in last 2:00 of first half in their win at Foxboro. Don't see that a lot.

-- If Tom Brady doesn't play at start of season, we'll find out how smart Bill Belichick really is; lets see him win with the backup QBs New England has on its roster.

-- Willie Harris knocked in six runs, had two homers for Nats Friday; trailing 4-0 in fifth, they waxed Cubs, 13-5.

-- Red Sox moved past White Sox in Wild Card race Friday.

-- Ryan Church finally returned to lineup Friday for Mets, as they shut Astros out. Church took long time to come back.

-- Even though they lost by 20, enjoyed Argentina's spirit in their game vs USA, cutting 21-point lead to six at one point. All teams should play with such enthusiasm.

Saturday's Den; Runnin' the bases in American League.......

        14) A's-- Rookie P Greg Smith is a keeper; feeble A's offense is not giving him any support, scoring three or less runs in 18 of his 25 starts. He reminds me of Tom Glavine.

        13) Mariners-- Ichiro is trying to get 200 hits again, only thing that is least bit interesting about this Mariner team. He had five hits in 81st game, to get to 100 at halfway point. No way he is not going to get to 200 hits this season.

        12) Royals-- They're in division where different teams win, so if their rebuilding continues on course, they could be Cinderella team in year or two. Still need lot more pitching.

        11) Orioles-- Would love to see what they would have done in National League; they're as good as the Marlins, right?

        10) Tigers-- No pitching, older position players, disappointing.

        9) Indians-- Cliff Lee is this generation's Steve Carlton; playing for a 60-67 Indians' team, Lee is 18-2. He has 72-38 career mark, pretty good for guy who Montreal dumped as part of package in trade for Bartolo Colon back in 2002.

        8) Rangers-- Rick Peterson was on radio Friday, saying the 1-1 pitch is most important baseball; batters have .460 OB% when count is 2-1, less than .220 when it is 1-2. Ranger pitchers must not throw many strikes on the 1-1 pitch.

        7) Blue Jays-- If they had played this way from start of season, they could be contending for Wild Card. Too little, too late.

        6) Bronx-- Carl Pavano is making his first start since April '07 tonight. Something tells me the Bombers are a bit desperate.

        5) White Sox-- Do they have enough pitching depth to get by? Slipped out of Wild Card lead with loss to Rays Friday night.

        4) Red Sox-- Beckett has bad elbow; JD Drew is also banged up. Defending champs are in danger of not making playoffs.

        3) Twins-- Gave up Santana, Torii Hunter, getting only Gomez in return. Liriano has made only six starts, yet they're on top of standings with five weeks left. Gardenhire has done great job.

        2) Rays-- Joe Maddon should go buy a Powerball ticket; every move he makes works like a charm. MVP of this team is Jason Bartlett-- they've played terribly when he's been out.

        1) Angels-- Playing sloppy baseball, as they clinched AL West long time ago. Still five weeks of coasting left before playoffs.
