  • Kobe Bryant

I've never been a Kobe fan .... until now. I've always felt he was extremely self-centered. He wanted the ball. He wanted to score all the points. It was often about "him".

During the Olympics he's displayed a different side. He's put his country and team before his own personal accolades and agenda. When he was selected for the team he asked coach Mike Krzyzewski if he could concentrate on defense. In the games I've watched he's backed those words. He's been a force on defense while not demanding the ball on offense.

Maybe that is because he still has not gained his shooting confidence from the NBA Finals.
Am I the longest tenured BC member?

kobe is a class act, this year he got all of his teamates into the game with the lakers and then when they called on him he took over, and yes he did say he wanted to become a defensive stopper in the the olympics and he has keep his word,..i think its all about maturing with age, remember he did come right out of high school

Maybe it's because he's one of the best players in the league and recognizes what the team needs in order to secure a gold medal.

Kobe was a ball hogging shot taking beast when he didn't have any help around him after they traded shaq. Well those days are gone, and any Laker fan that watched more than the playoffs last year will attest to that.

              Frank,

I've not liked Kobe as well, for same reason as U. Plus he's a rapist, or paid off to drop charges...whatever.

However, before I'd jump on his ship my gut tells me that this is still in a way self serving...in the bigger picture of self Mkt & endorsements & such...

If Kobe doesn't play on this team, & by all means he's not only capable but undoubtedly best in the world or top 5 for sure...your sentiments, mine & many others including corporate America see the typical Kobe & his selfishness.

However, Kobe or someone w/in his braintrust...maybe his wife since she was able to score a gazillion $$$ ring out of rape case, had brains enough to say, Kobe, play on this team, be a 'team' player, help win the GOLD that the NBA, USA & others so covet & in doing so & taking the road of role player, fit in w/ other super stars, your Mkt value & potential to partner w/ major Companies &/or CEO types may re-emerge. Think MJ or Tiger...

So for me, yea I love seeing him play as a role player with the others, but do the spots on that leopard change? Well, maybe not for this showcase, but we'll see if he can further down the road.

IMHO, he'd be stupid to not try to re-invent himself or his image in ways like this & more if he wants to further his revenue stream to the likes of MJ or Tiger...then again he's got more $$ than God but they seem to always want more. He certainly had the potential to be as marketable if not more or on same plane as MJ & others...but raping someone & selfishness doesn't bode well in corporate America let alone the rest of the world.

              FUCK YOU, FUCK ME

Basketball or pro athletes don't corner the market in regards to infidelity.

An unrelated topic. It was nice watching the men's basketball team supporting the women's team.
