I am brutally cold at the moment and have blown a full season worth of profits in the last three weeks. I went 0-2 Monday including a loss on only my second top play of the year. My dogs aren't barking and I'm in a real rut. That said, I do like two plays tonight and will keep plugging away and am determined to still hit my goal of being +12 units for the year.
1* Orioles +119
I lost a 2* on Baltimore Monday and have mis-read the Red Sox who are playing with real guts right now. Nonetheless, Baltimore has a really good pitcher who threw the most impressive game I've seen all year three starts back when he shut out the powerful Angels on one hit. Boston's Bucholz isn't pitching well.
1* Blue Jays +144
The Yankees are done. They won't make the playoffs and they're just another also ran like, well, Toronto. So why not play the Jays as a big dog at home? Andy Pettite has been mediocre for weeks and the Yanks are only 13-13 in his starts. Toronto's Purcey pitched a six inning shutout last start. Toronto has won six of its last seven and can tie the Yanks for third in the tough AL East with a win.
Disclaimer: While I like both of these picks, be aware that I'm in my worst baseball slump in about three years right now. I even managed to pick the Cubs in the only game they've lost in about ten days.
