  • Josh Hamilton intentionally walked with the bases loaded

and 2 outs. That puts the game over the total. Probably smart but weird. A killer on total wagers one way or the other!

I thought it was pretty gutless but he struck the next guy out so they must've known something we didn't

Most managers in this instance probably would have strolled out to the mound and told the pitcher to give him a near intentional pass-in other words, throw bad pitches out of the strike zone and hope he will chase one.

That is fucked up...but if he struck out the next batter the pitcher must have had good numbers against the next hitter or whatever....or have got smacked around by Hamilton previously...

Sucks about losing the under but the call was right. Hamilton tying run at the plate with 2 outs why not give up the one because Byrd is not a real HR threat anyways. Strange way to lose but I like the unorthodox call by tampa.

I agree I think it was the right call. But doesn't it go against conventional managerial wisdom? Putting the winning run at the plate?

Ya Frank thats why I said it was unorthodox but sometimes that is necessary. Logically I would rather send Byrd as the winning run that pitch the Hamilton as the tying run. Hamilton is an animal at the plate and Byrd if anything was only going to single MAYBE double so there would still be another shot to end it after.

I wonder if they would have walked him if Texas was trailing by two or three runs. I say definitely not if lead was 2 runs and really am not sure if lead had been 3 runs.
