Report: Cardinals claim Washburn

According to the Seattle Times, Mariners SP Jarrod Washburn has been claimed on waivers by the St. Louis Cardinals. Seattle now has 48 hours to try and work out a deal with St. Louis, otherwise Washburn remains a Mariner.

Now if Mariners put Ichiro on Waivers and Sox claimed him, well, I would be one happy camper.

Waiver claims made on Raul Ibanez and Jarrod Washburn both expired Thursday without a deal being made.

Both players will stick with the team for the rest of the season. The Tigers were the team that put in a claim on Ibanez, and Minnesota made a claim on Washburn - likely to block the White Sox, who were thought to be interested.
