I lost yesterday as the underdog Angels finally fell on their faces.
1* Marlins -132
I don't bet many favorites but the Marlins are playing great and I'll take Scott Olsen, even with all of his weirdness, over Glendon Rusch, who is basically a five inning pitcher. Olsen, typical of an emotional pitcher, is much better at home, with a 3.12 ERA in Florida. Maybe he likes the calm as I'm sure Florida's unappreciative fans will once again boycott the game (only 21,000 last night for a Sat nite game).
1* Astros +120
Terrible meltdown for Billy Wagner yesterday as the Mets blew a 4-1 eighth inning lead and a good outing by Santana. There may be a carryover as the team has finally cooled a bit since Jerry Manual took over. Houston is finnally hot, winning five of six.
1* Cardinals -103
Statistically at least, Wellemeyer has pitched much better than Myers (1.31 WHIP vs. 1.51). St. Louis is only 10-11 in Wellemeyer starts but the Phillies are a terrible 5-14 in Meyers' starts. Both teams are off tomorrow so the managers have some flexibility and I'll take LaRussa in that matchup over Charlie Manuel (tied with Yost for major league dunce award).
Opinion only:
Braves (they're playing dreadful but Campillo's a good pitcher and Sheets is slumping)
