I don't think easiest schedule applies in the NFL, every Sunday is a dog fight to get a win. Even if it's a losing team, when they play an upper echelon team they bring it even more!

Pats GET the easiest schedule because they'll play 4 games within their division vs division rivals with 1-15 and 4-12 records.

They don't GET the easiest schedule. Each year, the schedule is predetermined. In addition to playing their division rivals twice (6 games). Every team plays an entire division in the AFC (4 games) and NFC (4 games). They rotate the divisions each season. Finally, they play the two teams within their conference that finished in the same spot within their division (2 games).

The day the season ends teams know who they're playing the next season. The only remaining question is when they're playing.

What's your reasoning for this statement? There's no 'THEY'. There's no conspiracy. It's a predetermined scheduled that's been in place since 2002 when they realigned to 4 division in each conference.

The reason the Colts and Pats have played each other every season is because they've finished first in each of their divisions. You play the teams in the other division inside your conference that finished in the same position within their respective division.

4 NFC West Division
1 AFC North division first place Steelers
1 AFC South division first place Colts

Each and every team follow the same format
