Sadly-I have to agree;this situation to an extent reminds me of Nomar in 2004.
Sox weren't playing well, and I hated the guys they got in return;the story had a happy ending as we all know.
I see it slipping away now as when Varitek went down in 2006;I just a real bad feeling right now, and not sure Manny or no Manny that they can rectify present situation this year.

I don't know....the Yankee trades have been very good, I don't think the Angels trade for Texeira makes them that much better, and I can't decide what the best thing to do with Manny is.

If you trade him, you are not going to get a run producer of his caliber back, so there would have to be a second trade if they want to compete for a WS, which has to be their goal...Tejada? I think Theo has to come out and say we think Manny is great, he has been a great Red Sox, an integral part of two World Championships, we would love to have him back but we are not exercising our option on him....he needs to end the speculation. Put the onus on him and say you hope he continues to produce as he has over the life of his contract and work hard to not let down his fellow teammates and Red Sox Nation, who have been supportive of him since day one. Will it work....doubtful. But I think if they trade him, they have zero chance, especially if the rumor of him going to the Marlins for three high prospects is true.

I would think it would be easier to be a Red Sox fan if you got rid of a guy that plays half-ass half the time and also shoots his mouth off. He does have great talent but I would rather have someone that gives me 100% all the time.
