Hell, Atlanta wanted Youkilis for Texeira and Boston said no. Nobody from Florida is coming here to play 1st.

Colorado wanted Buchholz for Fuentes. Colorado also doesn't think they will be able to sign Holiday after next year. Trade Manny and Buchholz for Holiday and Fuentes. Colorado can get the Manny contract off the books after this year and still have Buchholz for the rotation next season.

What are the chances the Sox or Marlins resign Manny?

          I would say 0-5%

Therefore, they shouldn't be asking for much or giving up much for a rental player.

Interesting ... Still far from Manny as far as presence in the lineup though.

Sources told Baseball Prospectus' John Perrotto that Manny Ramirez is on the verge of being traded to the Marlins for three players.
Perrotto says one of them is top outfield prospect Mike Stanton. Baseball Prospectus isn't the best source for breaking news, but Perrotto is a veteran reporter for the Beaver County Times and is pretty trustworthy. Still, it's worth noting that Ramirez is still in the game for the Red Sox.

If he goes to the Marlins, there better be a second trade waiting to replace his bat otherwise, imo, the Sox will have no chance to win a WS this year.

You can't trade a guy like Manny and not replace at least 80% of what he produces if you want to win. It may take two players (i.e. a LF and a SS), but Theo would have to turn around and package the young talent he has/gets for proven bats.

As I said earlier, Manny is most likely a rental...no way a team should give up anything great for him
