Becket probably has the some of the best stuff and without a doubt the best attitude of most starters left in the playoffs right now. He tosses a two hitter vs Schmidt and SF and the press heaped accolades on his brilliant pitching job and all he can talk about is how the TEAM played in the disappointing loss and how they would come back.

Zambrano can be Jekyll and Hyde and he is overdue for one of his Hyde performances. Look for the Marlins to come out loose and free wheeling while the Cubs must protect home turf and will play things a little tighter. A high pitch count and a trip to to Cubs bullpen should be the turning point late in the game for the Marlins to win this one for Becket.

Sosa so far in the playoffs is batting a buck 85 with one RBI. And the Marlins were asked if they would pitch to him??? Now there's a reporter without a storyline!!

Congrats on the Colts pick last night!!

I had TB in a ML parlay BUT tried to get a little greedy so played the Colts +5 and OVER trying to hit both sides of the game plus the RedSox upright! So a nice plus side night in the end.

NICE CALL ON INDY!! The media has been having a field day with it!! I went to bed after the last TB Score to make it 35-14....Blew my mind when I saw the final this morning!!

Outstanding read on the game......TCU is getting a couple of players half ways back but they are very banged up on offense......they have been winning with their defense so far!

Cubs are 7-2 @ home vs Florida last 3 years. Zambrano has a 1.59 ERA vs Florida since 1997 while Beckett has a 4.50 ERA vs Cubs since 1997. Beckett is only 2-6 on the road this year. Zambrano has a 2.99 ERA @ home this year.

NOTE: THIS IS A SERIES PICK. This Cubs team reminds me so much of the Atlanta Braves of 1991; only with better and more clutch hitting. The Braves of that miracle season were loaded with arms: Glavine, Smoltz and Avery. The Cubs have Wood, Prior and Zambrano. Chicago also has a stronger bullpen than Atlanta had back then. Borowski is not your typical overpowering closer but gets the job done. The Braves were forced to go with closer by committee with Pena and Berenguer. As far as the sticks go, the Cubs have a solid lead-off man in Kenny Lofton while the Braves were forced to go without Otis Nixon who had been suspended. Atlanta did have decent outfield corners with Gant and Justice but let’s face it Alou and Sosa are superior. Now to this season: The Marlins are stocked with young arms too, but their bullpen situation is shaky at best especially with their closer Urbina. They have solid starters in Penny, Beckett and Willis but I’ll take Kerry Wood and Mark Prior anytime. The Marlins are pumped and with the exception of Conine don’t have any ties to the ’97 squad but these Cubs are backed by nearly a century of frustration. We side with history, destiny and some incredible pitching: Cubs in 6.

Based on these, I liked what I read so I'll go with the Cubs and the under.

I really did not pick in this series. I see a difficult choice due to the strength of 2 Cubs starters backed by a suspect bullpen. Florida is just so fired up and getting behind or losing does not seem to be an option in their minds. Remind me a LOT of the 87 Twins that no one knew about until the playoffs and even then dismissed them as a threat.

Cubs should prevail in a long series as long as they don't dump the first two at home.

I have Flor winning tonight but tomorrow night will no doubt have a different pitching scenario.....It's only because Zambrano has been hammered by teams with these type of hitters and a lot of Flor stats were built during their losing streak so look for his early exit and into the Cubs pen for the win......

I WOULD TAKE EITHER OF THESE TWO TO WIN THE SERIES THOUGH! BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!! Goldv
