  • Colts vs. Bucs

Aside from all the normal stats in last nights contest and calling the offense to shine ( on both sides ? ) Two things in particular really stand out to me after reviewing the box score this morning .

Tampa has kicking problems that will haunt them if not corrected soon and they just so happened to really surface last nite.

1st ) Punts where very lopsided in this game , the Colts kicked 5 times and avg. 51.8 a kick , the Bucs also had 5 kicks and avg. just 40.2 . Thats almost 60 yards more ( a decent T.D. drive )

2nd ) Kick Returns where a real stand-out , as the Colts really shined here they had 5 returns for 177 yards ( a 35.4 avg. ) the Bucs on the other hand had 5 also for 61 yards ( 12.2 avg ) so on avg. the Colts outshined them by a avg. of 23.2 yards a return and if the Bucs dont address this very soon it will be exploited by every club they play.

Every club out there plays thier best ball in the tighter games , and thats understandable because they do get relaxed when ahead by 21 or so ( and then the ole prevent comes into play ) but last night was a classic example of allowing to much momentum to be gathered before realization of the urgentcy finally sets in .

Add to that ..... that the Bucs are the most penalized team going today and troubles brewing .

Also I need a cookie jar for my over bets last night !

Do you really think the kicking game had that much of an impact on the outcome of the game?

    Get a clue.

Just like Gruden whining about the penalty on Rice on the FG attempt in overtime.

    Get a clue.

Your team was up 21 points with 5 minutes left!!!

    And you blew it!!!

Well since a clue is in order :

I tender you to find one , my team as I quote you hasnt a single thing to do with my statement , my team made me a 1000.00 last nite . And furthermore I stand very solid on my statements as they did in fact (not fiction or in your case friction ? ) have plenty to do with the undertones of the outcome.

And one more thing about clues , A bar of soap would cure your blues , and a cold beer might help your attitude also ?

you are 100% correct on this. You said it(typed it) to a tee. I have been a TB fan for 27+years, you should send that post of yours to Gruden, he needs a little insight.

Its wise of you to notice that field position has a ton to do with these games and it will go a long ways in determining the outcomes . Everything I alluded too was pointing to that and Tampa Bay gave them far shorter fields because of those two problems.

I wish on the Gruden thing also , but the fear here is that " Chucky " would reach thru the screen and choke me to death , he has to be pissed ? They really have to be careful of those penalties also , dont want to take the Al Davis award away from the "Radiers " just yet !

Anyway , Thanks and keep up the great help and picks !

mmm- how do you exploit a kick return/or a punter?

Isn't it already every teams goal to run back a kick as far as you can/ punt the ball as far as you can?

You nailed the game analysis exactly. DirtyBoy asked if you had a clue if the kicking game had THAT MUCH OF AN IMPACT on the OUTCOME???????

I don't know how any facet left OTHER THAN the kicking game influenced it!!

Here's just a few "kicking" tidbits that stuck out! All yours not needing repeating.

TUPA PUNT HITS AT THE ONE YARD LINE FIRST HALF AND STAYS ON THE ONE YARD LINE!

ON SIDE KICK RECOVERED NEED FOR PANIC SCORE

ANOTHER ONSIDE KICK TRIED YET DEFENSE HELD FOR A SCORE

                THEN

FIELD GOAL TO WIN THE MISSED WIDE RIGHT

                THEN

ANOTHER FIELD GOAL DOINKS ITS WAY IN TO WIN IT.

What other "impact" is there other than a kick WINNING the game!?

"I BELIEVE THAT YOU DID NOT HAVE A CLUE TO THE KICKING GAME AND THE OUTCOME BUT EXPLAINED IT SUCH THAT ONLY THE "CLUELESS" COULD QUESTION IT!!

Good Analysis and keep those picks and information of yours coming.......They and It are invaluable!

Now......I must go take care of some "Dirty Laundry"!

I WONDER IF "HERBIE" HAD A CLUE?? Bet he even "LAID A COUPLE OF POUNDS ON IT" (Assuming that it was British Football of course)

PS......I love basketball.....I do much better at it than baseball or football!

BEST OF LUCK AND THANKS AS ALWAYS FOR THE "CONSTRUCTIVE" Input!! GoldV
I am NOT schizophrenic......and NEITHER am I! Just paranoid that fear may overcome my insanity!

Basketball is my sport. It's a true gamblers sport and the books know it. They are not to happy when basketball season rolls around. Most limit your plays and some even go as far as closing their doors. There's just to many games day in and day out for them to put SOLID numbers out, in saying that.
