  • Who Will Win the World Series?

Aside from any futures bets you may have, if someone asked you today who will win the 2008 World Series, who would you choose and why?
My vote would be the Angels;other than fact they have defeated the Red Sox 6 of 7 this year, the most telling reasons are their great road record and just overall very good team balance.
My next choice would be Yankees and then Sox and Tampa Bay roughly equal.
My first choice in National League(behind all of the AL teams cited) would be the Cubs.

Zambrano, Harden, Dempster, Lilly and you put the Cubs 5th?

What other starters can match that in the teams you've listed?

I'm more scared of the D'Backs, Milwaukee, and the Muts as far as starters go than I am anyone of those AL teams. AL doesn't have enough pitching to win it this year imo, unless something goes down big at the deadline.

In answer to your question, although not conclusive by any means, the continued dominance of AL over NL in interleague play, the recent All Star Games and WS means something.
This year AL finished a whopping 47 games ahead of NL in interleague play, and the Cubs record was nothing to write home about.
Even the crappy Royals excelled against the NL.
Until NL can prove it can defeat the NL(other than the fluke of St. Louis over the Tigers in WS), in my mind any AL team deserves to be a better bet than any NL team especially one which hasn't won a WS in an eternity.

It evens out in a seven game series. The AL has NOT dominated in the WS. The NL has won 3 of the last 7 WS.

              Angels

Tigers or White Sox have a shot to come out of AL if they can put it all together I think.

From the NL, I would only say the Cubs have a shot. Dbacks have no offense. Mets are too streaky and lack consistant pitching.

I will be like Phil Ste ele and pick out my selected time frame to prove my point-Al has won 11 out of the last 16 WS or 68.7%.

In that case The NL is 35-25-2 in last 62 All Star games

ps My futures bets are on the Yankees and Angels and NOT the Red Sox-I can separate love affairs from reality-can you?

I agree the Angels appear to have Bostons number, but once the postseason hits, it is another story.

The only way to keep Boston out of the WS is to keep them out of the playoffs at all. Tampa and NYY, or Tampa/NYY and wildcard from the central.

PS...didnt even read the whole thread till now, but the NL is garbage....Ya Cubs look great, but AL rolls ass in Interleague, and usually the WS unless the NL has Josh Beckett killing, or the Tigers pitchers throwing balls into the seats.

Where did I say the Cubs were a lock to win it all? I said I think they have a top staff. I'm not blinded by the Cubs like you are with the Sox. I can see the Angels, ChiSox, Boston, Yankees, Tampa, Minny winning it just as I can see the Cubs, Brewers, Mets, D'Backs, Phillies winning it. To disregard the NL over some meaningless interleague and All Star game stats is not "seperating your love affair from reality."
