  • NASCAR - Brad Daugherty?

Just caught some ESPN this AM, saw former UNC and NBA basketball player Brad Daugherty commenting on NASCAR as an analyist.

My question to my redneck friends are what are his qualifications? Is he reading a script or is he really into it?

Daugherty was a fine player and a class act in basketball for those who are too young to remember.
    NBA is a joke

Daughtery has been an analyst for 2-3 years now at least if not longer. He really seems to have a passion for it and know what he is talking about. I'd much rather listen to him than former driver Rusty Wallace FWIW

Following his retirement from the NBA, Daugherty co-owned a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team (Liberty Racing) featuring such drivers as Kenny Irwin Jr. and Kevin Harvick. In 1997 Irwin won two Craftsman Truck Series races driving for Daugherty (Homestead-Miami Speedway in March and Texas Motor Speedway in June). Daugherty joined ESPN's return to NASCAR racing telecasts in 2007. He is currently an analyst on NASCAR Countdown, ESPN's new pre-race show, and on NASCAR Now, a nightly newscast on the sport.

Daugherty has been involved in NASCAR for almost 20 years, as an owner of race teams in the Busch and Craftsman Truck Series, and a member of the Rules and Competition Committee.

He and NASCAR chief executive Brian France co-founded NASCAR's Diversity Council several years ago.

Thanks Rook! I thought he was involved as a truck owner/ co owner somewhere along the line, but couldn't remember for sure.

He just bought into the team that Marcos Ambrose drives for (JTG RACING) and they are going to CUP next year. He seems like a good guy.
