I don't think George was balling, I just think he is in bad shape but a bit emotional. In a lot of ways, he should have gotten one of the largest ovations of the night for creating what he has created in the Bronx...I was surprised at the subdued repsonse of Yankee fans. Maybe they wer ejust shocked to see him?>???
I got a bit treary eyed seeing him hand the baseballs to the 4 living Yanks in the Hall...Gossage almost lost it!
I hope you are joking...or did you just crawl out from under a rock?
I had heard that he was in tough shape, but I haven't heard much mention of him of late.
I heard a rumor and only a rumor that he has first stages of Alzheimers;I am sorry if his actual condition is known to most;I am simply not aware of it and asked the question in all sincerity.
If you haven't been to a game at Yankee Stadium, one of the best fan traditions is 'roll call'...from the bleachers, they go around the diamond and chant each players name until they turn and acknowlede the bleacher reatures...you just heard them going through it...it is pretty cool.

Just bustin' your chops...he is not in good shape, as you just saw. For a guy who was very visible for many, many years, he has almost become reclusive.

Thanks-I thought by what you originally said that virtually everyone except me knew exactly what his problem was.
I found the entire ceremony with all of the old and retired players quite moving, and was sad to see George far from the vibrant person I am used to seeing.
