  • Thursday Plays - 7/10/08

I had a very lucky night. The Tigers came back from being down 6 runs and not only won, but had a 2 run walk-off to cover my run line play as well. White Sox came back from 5 runs down to win and Texas changed their starter so my "loser" on the Angels ended up as a no play.

    Yesterday 6-0 +596
    Season 29-22 +369

    Giants (+185) 75/139

The Mets have been playing very well and in watching them every night, they appear to be ready to do some damage in a very weak division. They are playing loose and finding ways to win instead of the other way around. That being said, I think today is a good shot for a letdown. The Giants are 4-0 in Zito's last 4 road starts and he has a 3.00 ERA in those games. He hasn't pitched too badly lately going 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA in his last 3 starts. In his only game at Shea last year, he pitched very well, throwing 7 shutout innings. This is more of a gut play than anything and i'll take the almost 2-1 odds with the dog here.

    Brewers (-153) 153/100

I don't think the Brewers will lose 3 of 4 to Colorado at home. They are 4-1 in Bush's last 5 home starts and he has a 2.00 ERA in those games. De la Rosa is 0-3 on the road this season with a 5.91 ERA. Playing Milwaukee to get a split in the series.

    Ari/Was under 7.5 (-125) 125/100

Had a nice winner on the under in this game last night. Each of the last 3 starts for both Haren and Bergmann have gone under and both are pitching very well right now. Bergmann is another guy (like Lannan) who is pitching very well and the Nationals can't seem to win for him. He has a 2.12 ERA over his last 5 home starts, but the Nationals are 1-4 in those games. Arizona is batting .213 on the road this seaons and Washington .239 overall. The under is 14-3-2 in Arizona's last 19 overall and 6-1 in Washington's last 7. I know all trends ultimately go the other way, but there is too much here to ignore, in my opinion. These are two offense struggling big time right now, so i'll play the under again tonight.

    LAA/Tex under 9.5 (-110) 110/100

Goes against my better judgment to play an under in a Texas game, but the numbers support it. Lackey has a 2.38 ERA over his past 3 starts and a 1.40 ERA on the road this season. Feldman's last 6 starts have all gone under and he has a 2.67 ERA in his last 4 starts at home. The under is 23-8-2 in the Angels' last 33 road games and we have an "under" home plate umpire tonight. The under is 8-1-1 in Davidson's last 10 games behind the plate.

    White Sox (-105) 158/150

I'm going to play the White Sox for the third night in a row. They haven't been easy wins, but wins nonetheless. I've played both of these trends for a little while now and i'll do so again tonight. The White Sox are 10-1 in game 3 of a series after winning game 2 and the Royals are 5-12 in game 3 of a series after losing game 2. The White Sox are 13-3 in Buehrle's last 16 starts vs KC and 8-0 in his past 8. KC is 2-8 in Greinke's last 10 against the White Sox. I was going to play this for 2 units, originally, but KC is 5-1 in Greinke's home starts this season, so I downgraded this to 1.5 units. These are two teams going in different directions with the Sox winning 8 of their last 10 and KC losing 5 of 6.
