  • Saturday Plays - 7/5/08

    Yesterday 2-5 -$221
    Season 12-10 +$330

The under in the Bos/NYY game would have made it a breakeven day. Terrible call by the umpire, but i'm not going to bitch too much, since there were 9 runs scored in the first 4 1/2 innings and I had written the play off at that point.

One early play. Will be back with more later.

    Cardinals (-122) $122/$100

St Louis is 13-1 in game 2 of a series, this season, after losing the first game. They have hit .300 in the last 10 games against LHP and have won 8 of Lohse's last 9 starts. Lohse has posted a 1.67 ERA in his past 4 home starts. The Cubs have lost their last 7 games as an underdog. 1 unit play here on the Cards.

    Pit/Mil over 9 (-125) $188/$150

Pittsburgh has gone over in 41 of their past 57 road games. You could have made a fortune playing all Pirates games over this season. Milwaukee is crushing lefties in the past 10 games, hitting .323 over that span and the Pirates are batting .293 against RHP over the past 10. Maholm has struggled in his last 3 against the Brewers posting a 6.89 ERA. Both bullpens have been terrible with the Pirate bullpen posting a 7.49 ERA over the past 3 games and the Brewer bullpen with a 5.49 ERA over that same span. 1.5 units on the over.

    Nationals (+122) $150/$183

Purely a play against Fogg here. He has a sparkling 9.85 ERA and .325 batting average against, this season. Washington is 13-3 in Redding's last 16 starts. Tough not to take Washington as a dog here. 1.5 units.

    Oakland/CWS under 8.5 (-105) $131/$125

The under is 10-1-1 in Smith's last 12 starts and he has given up only 1 ER in each of his last 3 starts. Floyd has posted a 2.87 ERA at home in 9 starts this season. I think this game stays under.

    Rays (-139) $243/$175

I'll just continue to ride the hot team here. The Rays are 10-2 vs KC in the last 12 played in TB and they are 36-15 in their last 51 home games overall. They have won Sonnanstine's last 6 starts and 8 of his last 10. KC is 3-11, this season, in the second game of a series after losing the first game. Staying on the Rays here tonight.

    Tigers (-128) $224/$175
    Det/Sea over 9 (-105) $131/$125

Detroit is 24-5 in their last 29 games as a favorite, a very strong trend. They are 6-1 in Galarraga's road starts this season, while Seattle is 0-3 in Dickey's home starts. Seattle is 6-17 after a win this season.

These two teams are hot at the plate over the last 10 games, with the Tigers batting .329 and Seattle hitting .305. 8 of the last 10 games between these two teams have gone over and the over is 13-3-1 in HP umpire Wendelstadt's last 17 games behind the plate.
