  • The Brewers Will Never Be A Playoff Team Under Ned Yost

I have long argued that managing in baseball is underrated. While no great manager can make a bad team good; the difference between marginal teams is often managing.

Stupid moves, especially down the stretch, have more of an impact than people believe. The decision by Milwaukee's Yost, a guy who refuses to stop using lousy pitchers, in today's Milwaukee meltdown is an example of that.

I may end up looking ridiculous but I'm convinced the Cubs and St. Louis are the only NL Central teams with a shot at post-season because Milwaukee's very talented young team is in the hyands of a guy who is in over his head.

And, no, I didn't have a bet on today's game.

It's not torres fault that Manny Mota can't get anyone out. up 5-0 in the 9th no reason to bring in torres after he pitched the last 2 days. But he ended up being the losing pitcher, 6 runs given up in the 9th by 3 guys without recording an out...but the good news is that it wasn't eric gagne ! 1 inning today zero's across the board.........

Any team that would give Gagne 10 miiiillllliionn dollars after his last couple years should have their heads examined.

Maybe I don't watch him as closely as you do so I can't really comment on him but he truly does have nothing to work with in that pen as they are all brutal.....in the end the manager will look bad. Again I dont know what type of game manager he is so I will take your word but yes they have a nice lineup and a decent rotation but that pen is brutal.

          PEACE

Since we are on the subject, I think it bears mentioning that the understanding in baseball that you don't steal or bunt late with big leads should be abandoned.

Since no lead is really safe, no team should be faulted for padding insurance runs in any opportunity that arises. It is old-school thinking, much like retaliation beanballs, and yet every time a team comes from way back, it is OK.
You can't always get what you want, but if you try some time, you might find, you get what you need.

What stupid move did he make other than letting Mota face 3 hitters? Brought in Shouse to face a lefty that was 0-7 against lefties and Arizona had no right handed hitters available. He gave up a bases clearing double. Then brought in Torres who converted last 12 save opportunities. A manager can't hit, field or throw the ball. That being said, I don't really like Yost either. At least I had Milwaukee +1.5 yesterday.

I think Gagne was a panic move since Cordero didnt take their offer....lucky for them it was only a 1 year deal, trust me if they trade Gagne at the deadline they can get someone to take him off of them.
