I have long argued that managing in baseball is underrated. While no great manager can make a bad team good; the difference between marginal teams is often managing.
Stupid moves, especially down the stretch, have more of an impact than people believe. The decision by Milwaukee's Yost, a guy who refuses to stop using lousy pitchers, in today's Milwaukee meltdown is an example of that.
I may end up looking ridiculous but I'm convinced the Cubs and St. Louis are the only NL Central teams with a shot at post-season because Milwaukee's very talented young team is in the hyands of a guy who is in over his head.
And, no, I didn't have a bet on today's game.
