ESPN Make a Wish ...

Kids are getting their "Make a Wish" dreams come true all week on Sportscenter.

Today a kid named Akeem had his wish filled at Steelers camp with Ben Roethlisberger. It was a great piece and Ben did a great job spending time with the kid.

They are pretty powerful segments and they get you thinking.

Athletes are always talked about when they make negative publicity but these guys this week should be talked about too for the great caring things they do with these kids. I always liked Big Ben and i'm a bigger fan now. Great Job to all the athletes who take the time to participate for these very sick kids!

definitely Wayne ... a local kid in my neighborhood ... 9 years young ... diagnosed with brain cancer got to throw out the first pitch last week at US CELLULAR field for the White Sox ...

I have been part of the Marty Lyons Foundation now for at least 8 years, very similar to the Make a Wish and run by a great group of folks. Powerful stories and very easy to be part of. Attend Golf outings, cigar nights, vegas nights, hang out with ex athletes, take part in sports memorilia auctions. Great times great people and the money goes to the kids wishes.

I agree! I get choked up anytime I watch these type of shows. It really makes one thankful for what we have.

At the same time there's no excuse for each and every pro athlete to give back.

haven't posted for a while, but i come by a couple times a week to read everyone's post... this particular post caught my attention and i felt the need to comment.

i wish they'd do this more often. it's nice to see these athletes take time out of their schedule to do these kind of things for these kids. sometimes i just wonder why these innocent kids have to go through things like this. it really makes me sad.

I just saw this one tonight...it was awesome...I cracked up a little when the kid took his wheelchair over the goalline...how great!
