  • Not one, but TWO Triple Crown Winners this year

It has been 71 years in the National League and 30 years in Horse Racing, but this year both Triple Crown droughts could end.

First, Big Brown has what it takes to get this done, especially if the shorter Preakness is captured. Belmont is a walk in the park for this stud.

Secondly, and we'll have to wait until October, but the Big Puma, or Lance Berkman of Houston.

Big Puma currently leads the NL in HR and RBI, and is second to Chipper Jones in BA.

Also Berkman is 1st in Extra base hits, doubles, slugging %, on-base %, OPS, runs, hits, total bases, and the seemingly portly fellow is even tied for 13th in stolen bases!

Sadly, he will not be elected to the All-Star team as a starter, as long as Superman Albert Pujols is playing. October is a looooong way away, but his numbers are staggering to date.

      More dope:

For the month of May, he's batting .689, slugging 1.205, and the Astros are 9-1! (They also finished April 7-4, for a nifty 16-5 streak.)

In one streak of 25 at-bats, Berkman had 19 hits (.760). Only two men have gotten 19 or more hits in 25 at bats in the past fifty years - and NONE in the AL. (The other National Leaguer was Pujols.)

IMO it's very difficult accomplishing these great feats. The media scrutiny is too great.

I agree with Big Brown. I think he'll break the 30 year drought. I witnessed the last. Affirmed edging Alydar.

You were there? or on TV?

Those two had some great duels, in the heyday of the sport.

Berkman entered tonight's game v SF 26 -for-his-last- 40, only done 4 times in the history of MLB. As HOT as it gets.

Big Brown will be 1-9 in the Belmont Stakes if he wins this saturday.

                      Any other horse adds value.
                      Good Luck to everyone

Richie: [after Gus hits a homerun] Wow and he did it without steroids.
                      Clark: What's steroids?
Richie: Something that makes your pee-pee smaller.
Clark: There must be steroids in macaroni!

I know I am not going out on a limb here, but it has been 30 years, and it is going to happen.

Actually it was the Big Brown that I am declaring a certainty.

Then, I am being hopeful on Berman, who is quite simply the hottest player on the planet, and one of the hottest of all time.

And I doubt Chipper will be winning the batting title, or Berkman, for that matter. Just acknowledging these mind-crunching numbers he is putting up right now.
