    Six-pack for Sunday

-- Dodgers scored ten runs in first inning Saturday night in a 11-3 win over the Rockies. Modern baseball for you: Rockies' starting pitcher Redman still finished six innings.

-- AL East has gone wacky: Orioles are in first place, and the Rays have won five in row, are now 13-11.

-- Cards' Adam Wainwright threw a 126-pitch complete game, as Redbirds scored in ninth to nip the Astros, 4-3.

-- Padre fans get their money's worth; in last ten days, they have seen games of 22-13-13 innings.

-- Stanford hired Johnny Dawkins as its hoop coach; despite Dawkins having zero head coaching experience. Good luck.

-- Micah Owings rolled his ankle running bases Saturday; he had to leave game after hitting a double in sixth inning.

Sunday's List of 13 (+): Running comments from NFL Draft

-- ESPN's Chris Mortensen likes Darren McFadden; he should know-- his son was a backup QB for the Razorbacks.

-- Look-alikes: Rams DE Chris Long, Arizona OF Eric Byrnes

-- Saints hired Ed Orgeron as their new DL coach, which plays into their decision to trade up to draft Sedrick Ellis of USC. It was Orgeron who recruited Ellis for the Trojans.

-- Patriots dropped from 7 to 10 in first round, also gave Saints a 5th-round pick, but got Saints' 3rd-round selection.

-- Jacksonville moved up from 26 to 8 to draft in trade with the Ravens, in order to draft Florida DE Harvey; they gave Ravens two 3's and 4th-round pick. Thats a hefty price to pay.

-- Chris Berman's act is wearing thin; he had to yuk it up with Steve Young, making fun of the Rams because they were 3-13 last year. Get some new material, please.

-- Raiders drafted McFadden, despite his not having a criminal record. If JaMarcus Russell is any good, Oakland's offense is going to be a lot better this season.

-- Who decided Keyshawn Johnson should be on TV? He has a chance to be NFL's version of Richard Phelps, using a lot of words to say pretty much nothing, or just stating the obvious.

-- Yes, I'm bitter about not having the NFL Network. Might be time to go to ESPN radio and see if they're an improvement, but I do like Mel Kiper and Mortensen.

-- I hear all this stuff all week about how thorough the Jets are with preparation with the draft, then they take the guy who is labelled "inconsistent motor". Makes you wonder........

-- Chiefs did well, with Glenn Dorsey falling into their lap.

-- Chris Long is fifth son of a Hall of Famer to be drafted by an NFL team. Winslow-Shula-Greise-Dorsett were the first four.

-- Keyshawn just pointed out that "...Belichick know what he's doing." Thats for the insight; please go away.

-- Carolina started four different QBs last year; when stuff like that happens, the coach usually gets fired, but Panthers have an excellent coach in John Fox- they were smart to keep him.

-- Let me say here that Roger Goodell might be coolest guy to ever be a commissioner. He seems to get what people like and don't like about the NFL, and he's been handed some tough issues from the previous administration, so it hasn't been easy

-- The draft is in New York, but why are there always lot more Jet fans there than Giant fans? Always wondered about that.

-- Rather than draft another receiver, Detroit's Matt Millen got extra picks from the Chiefs for their 15th pick, when Chiefs took a lineman from Virginia. KC and Atlanta both had six picks in the first three rounds, when today started.

-- Shouldn't the Lions draft a GM? They have done nothing but lose since hiring Millen. For the record, Millen moved up ten slots in third round, added another 5th-round pick, just to move back two slots in draft, so even the overmatched Millen can make a good deal now and then.

-- Seattle forced 33 turnovers in their 11 wins, five in the seven losses. If you need turnovers to win, you're not that good.

-- Not to pick on the guy, but Keyshawn is wearing a pink tie, a pink jacket and shirt that looks like a checkered tablecloth. At least he isn't using a pink highligher.

-- Mel Kiper points out that Ken Whisenhunt isn't committed to Matt Leinart at QB, because he wasn't guy who drafted him. Lucky for the Cardinals they have a two-time MVP as backup QB to the immature, injury-prone Leinart.

-- Arizona just drafted cornerback with one kidney. When you have won one playoff game in last 61 years, it might be a wise thing to draft players who have all their vital organs.

-- Denver drafted OT Ryan Clady of Boise State, who not only was a Bronco in college, he'll be one in the pros too.

-- Detroit drafted a tackle who is solid run blocker, so days of Lions running ball seven times in an entire game seem over.

-- Baltimore traded up to Houston's slot to draft Joe Flacco of Delaware, who once transferred from Pitt. Flacco's mom has a "Lets Go Joe" t-shirt on. If Flacco doesn't play well, the fans in Baltimore will be wearing "Joe Must Go" t-shirts.

-- Did Baltimore draft yet another QB in honor of Brian Billick, who started a dozen different QBs in his tenure with Ravens? (No.) Atlanta's new head coach is Billick's brother-in-law.

-- Atlanta traded up to draft OT Sam Baker of USC, whose dad is the commissioner of Arena Football. Sam is smaller than the dad, who is something like 6-9, 400 pounds.

-- Not surprisingly, Arkansas alum Jerry Jones drafted former Arkansas RB Felix Jones, who doesn't have lot of wear on his body, playing behind McFadden with Razorbacks. Nice pick.

-- Brian Brohm hasn't been drafted yet; I think he would be an Atlanta Falcon, had Bobby Petrino not been his college coach.

-- In first 23 picks of draft, there were nine trades, 12 linemen taken, and three USC guys, as well as two Virginia players.

-- There were no receivers taken in first round for first time in 18 years, even though Detroit has already selected.

-- Packers drafted Brohm, meaning Aaron Rodgers has a single year to establish himself as Favre's successor.

-- Pundits think Steelers did well drafting the Mendenhall kid from Illinois. You never have enough good running backs.

-- The kid I like who wasn't drafted Saturday is the Smith kid from Central Florida; what a workhorse he was for the Knights, running the ball. He'll be a terrific third down back in the NFL.

-- Streamlined NFL Draft was much shorter; first two rounds were over just before 9pm, lasting little less than six hours.

Picks resume at 10am Sunday. Breakfast with Boomer. Yuk.

                Tips and Trends
                ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New York Yankees at Cleveland Indians [FOX | 3:55 PM ET]

Yankees: New York's Ian Kennedy has simply failed to live up to his 1.89 ERA in 2007. The Los Angeles native is 0-2 with a 9.64 ERA on this young season and has failed to pitch further than the third inning in 3 out of his 4 starts. Manager Joe Girardi said the right-hander “just isn’t throwing strikes.” Kennedy has not faced the Indians in his career.

Yankees are 11-5 in their last 16 Saturday games.

                Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: 6 (OVER - Total Play of the Day)

Indians (-110, O/U 10.5): Cleveland has decided to call up Jeremy Sowers as a result of Wednesday’s rainout. This will be Sowers' first big league start this season, after going 4-5 with 4.12 ERA at Triple-A Buffalo. The former 1st-round draft pick was 1-6 with a 6.42 ERA in 2007.

Indians are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
Indians are 2-7 in Sowers' last 9 starts.

                Key Injuries - NONE

                PROJECTED SCORE: 7

Arizona Diamondbacks at San Diego Padres [FOX | 3:55 PM ET]

Diamondbacks: Micah Owings is off to another strong start here in 2008, going 4-0 with a 2.42 ERA. Owings started the ’07 season 4-1 but finished the year at .500. The right-hander has had no control issues this season with 23 strikeouts compared to just 6 walks. The Georgia native has won 2 of his 4 wins on the road already and carries a 1.42 ERA. However, in his last start against the Padres, he yielded 5 runs in just 3 innings.

Diamondbacks are 16-4 in their last 20 games overall.
The OVER is 10-3-1 in Arizona's last 14 games overall.

                Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: 5 (Side Play of the Day)

Padres (-110, O/U 8): Justin Germano has failed to earn a victory this season in 4 starts, and his team is also 0-4 in those appearances. The right-hander allowed a career-high 10 runs last time out against the Astros and saw his ERA balloon up to 5.01 from 1.35. Manager Bud Black said he “had no location.” Germano is 2-1 with a 3.63 ERA during his career against Arizona, but he is also getting just 1.5 runs of support this season.

The OVER is 9-2-2 in San Diego's last 13 games as a home underdog.

                Key Injuries - NONE

                PROJECTED SCORE: 3

Los Angeles Angels at Detroit Tigers [FOX | 3:55 PM ET]

Angels: Dustin Moseley is replacing the injured John Lackey in the rotation, and while he has gotten his team a couple of wins, it hasn’t been because of his arm. The right-hander is sporting a 7.78 ERA and has allowed at least 4 runs or more in each of his 4 starts. The Angels had to score a combined 16 runs to earn those 2 victories. Moseley is 1-0 in 4 games (1 start) against the Tigers in his career with a 4.50 ERA.

Angels are 9-3 in their last 12 games overall.
Angels are 39-14 in the last 53 meetings.

                Key Injuries - NONE

                PROJECTED SCORE: 5

Tigers (-130, O/U 10.5): Armando Galarraga has won back-to-back starts since being called up from Triple-A Toledo last week to replace Dontrelle Willis, who is sidelined by a hyperextended knee. Galarraga has done a great job keeping the ball down, as he has allowed just 1 home run over those 2 starts to go along with a 1.50 ERA. However, the right-hander was lit up for 5 runs in just 4+ innings the last time he faced the Angels in 2007.

The OVER is 8-4-1 in Detroit's last 13 games overall.
The OVER is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings.

                Key Injuries - NONE

                PROJECTED SCORE: 6

Orlando Magic at Toronto Raptors [TNT | 3 PM ET]

Magic: Orlando was the only team in the NBA to win more games on the road (27) than at home (25) during the regular season. That's why it would be no surprise if the Magic won at Toronto on Saturday, which would allow them to close out the series at home on Monday. One thing that must change in Game 4 is that Orlando must control the tempo, according to Dwight Howard. "We let them set the way the game was going to be played," Howard said following Game 3. "And it cost us."

Magic are 1-8 ATS in the last 9 meetings at Toronto.
The UNDER is 7-1 in Orlando's last 8 road games.

Key Injuries - Magic G Jameer Nelson (11 ppg; back) is probable to play.

                      PROJECTED SCORE: 100

Raptors (-3, O/U 203.5): Toronto head coach Sam Mitchell went with a smaller lineup in Game 3, and it paid off as the team earned its first win of the series. Jamario Moon started for Rasho Nesterovic and responded with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Orlando head coach Stan Van Gundy admitted the lineup switch made it tougher on his team defensively. "It’s a different game with this lineup," Van Gundy said. "You can’t put people in the paint like you can when they start their bigger guys (and) it’s much more difficult to defend."

Raptors are 10-3 ATS in the last 13 meetings.
The UNDER is 7-2-1 in Toronto's last 10 games overall.

                      Key Injuries - NONE

                      PROJECTED SCORE: 103

Los Angeles Lakers at Denver Nuggets [TNT | 5:30 PM ET]

Lakers: LA head coach Phil Jackson has never lost a playoff series when up 2-0, going 17-0 during his career under this scenario. In fact, NBA teams are 191-13 (94%) all-time when up 2-0, something Jackson joked about when reporters suggested the series was already over. “Isn’t that great?” Jackson said. “I hope that works magic. Can I go to the bank with that?”

Lakers are 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings, including 5-0 SU & ATS this season.
Lakers are 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 road games.
The OVER is 8-2 in LA's last 10 Saturday games.

                      Key Injuries - NONE

                      PROJECTED SCORE: 114

Nuggets (-1, O/U 230): Denver is very capable of winning at least 1 home game after going 33-8 at the Pepsi Center during the regular season. The Nuggets went 10-1 there in March and April, and 13 of their home wins were decided by 15 points or more. However, the Lakers were the best road team in the Western Conference at 27-14 and won at Denver back on December 5th, 111-107.

Nuggets are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games.
The OVER is 15-6 in Denver's last 21 home games.

Key Injuries - Nuggets F Linas Kleiza (11 ppg; elbow) is probable to play.

                      PROJECTED SCORE: 115

Boston Celtics at Atlanta Hawks [ESPN | 8 PM ET]

Celtics (-8.5, O/U 187): Boston forward Kevin Garnett was named NBA Defensive Player of the Year, but he credited his teammates and believes the Celtics have the best defense in the league. "James Posey is one of the best one-on-one defenders I’ve seen in a long time," Garnett said. "Him and Tony Allen. (Rajon) Rondo is just great at setting the tone up the top. I’m just the one who happens to speak louder than the other guys." You certainly can't argue with the numbers, as Atlanta has averaged just 79 points in the first 2 games and has not scored more than 89 in the last 5 meetings.

Celtics are 21-5 ATS in their last 26 games overall.
Celtics are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings.

Key Injuries - F Paul Pierce (19 ppg; back) is probable to play.

                      PROJECTED SCORE: 98

Hawks: Atlanta is happy to be out of Boston after point guard Mike Bibby's comments only hurt the team by firing up the Celtics. Teammate Joe Johnson came to Bibby's defense while head coach Mike Woodson noted his team will still have to win at least once at Boston in order to advance. "You still have to win a game here (Boston) if you’re going to get out of this series," Woodson said. "I don’t care how you cut it, you’ve got to win four games to go to the next round." The Hawks won't even get that opportunity if they don't win at least once at home.

Hawks are 0-5 SU & ATS in their last 5 games overall.
The UNDER is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings.

                      Key Injuries - NONE

                      PROJECTED SCORE: 90

Houston Rockets at Utah Jazz [ESPN | 10:30 PM ET]

Rockets: Houston star Tracy McGrady took a lot of heat after scoring only 1 point in the fourth quarter of the first 2 games combined, and then he went the first 8 minutes of Game 3 without scoring. But McGrady stepped up to help secure a victory in the final minutes and brought the Rockets back from the dead. "I was trying to be passive during the fourth quarter," he said. "I waited for the right time to really insert myself on the offense end. I got to the free-throw line. It was one-on-one coverage and I got some shots." Another thing that helped was the return of point guard Rafer Alston, who scored a career-playoff high 20 points for Houston in his first game of the series following a groin injury.

Rockets are 2-6 ATS in the last 8 meetings at Utah but have won 2 of 3 there SU.
Rockets are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 Saturday games.
The UNDER is 6-2 in Houston's last 8 games overall.

Key Injuries - Rockets F Shane Battier (9 ppg; ankle) is probable to play.

                      PROJECTED SCORE: 89

Jazz (-8.5, O/U 185.5): Utah is surprisingly in a must-win situation knowing that a loss here in Game 4 would give home-court advantage back to the Rockets heading back to Houston for Game 5. "It’s definitely dangerous because they feel they can win against us," Jazz point guard Deron Williams said. "I think if they feel they can beat us in our gym, they can beat us anywhere. We definitely put ourselves in a pressure situation and I think the next game for us is a must-win."

Jazz are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
Jazz are 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings.
The UNDER is 7-2 in Utah's last 9 Saturday games.

                      Key Injuries - NONE
