  • Al Horford May Have Just Made a Big Mistake

Depends what theory you subscribe to but I dont know how many of you just saw Horford make a shot with about 10 seconds left and Atlanta up 7. Well, Paul Pierce had gambled going for the steal and was on the floor as Horford made his shot. Horford preceded to lean over Pierce pointing and screaming in a taunting manner. It was a great win for the Hawks, not taking anything away from them at all. But Im not so sure that a first year completely unproven player whose team is still down 2-1 should be taunting one of the best players in the NBA on one of the best teams in the NBA.

The other theory is that he fired his team up, blah blah blah and as you can tell by my sarcasm, I dont buy too much into that one.

I think Pierce and the Celts will remember than one. Heck, maybe Horford remembered Boston pouring it on late in game 2 as Greek mentioned but either way, I dont see any good coming out of what he just did for the Atlanta side. If I were his teammates of coach, I would explain just that to him in a very stern manner.

Not too many thought they had a chance tonight though, Boi. And yea I agree that they they have about a 1% chance of winning the series. But still, thats a bonehead move as far as Im concerned and I can see Boston trying to win game 4 by as many as they can because of it. Not saying it will help Boston win. Dont mean that at all. Just think that if they are winning, they will pour it on.

Who cares, taunt away...he's just a rook, he'll learn. The Celts are gonna win anyways...at least this guy has a pulse and is letting them know he's not backing down. It also gives people something to yap about

Dude he stood over Paul Pierce pointing and screaming at him. It was absurd. Dont know if you saw it but its got nothing to do with having a pulse. It was a ridiculous thing to do. But I do agree with you that its nice to see a player not backing down and showing that he really cares. In a league full of premadonnas its good to see. IMO though he just should have showed it in a different way. And sure, I also agree with you that the Celts are going to win. It just seemed odd to me to pull that in the middle of a series. But like you said, he will learn.

Horford just showed he belongs in the NBA. These guys in the playoffs should posture to get the point across that they belong. The Hawks have some talent - no not at the level of Boston but they are young and on the move.
What happens here in the playoffs sets the tone for next year.

"Boston's Three Party" has been the rave! The Hawks fought their way into the playoffs and they will not go out like lambs- they will taunt and posture, kick and scream if they have to. Horford has back to back National Championships and was the highest pick from Florida from those championships and is making a leadership role in his debut.

You can see it from the side of all Boston fans or you can see the message that pumps up his team in trying to instill that his team is not going down easy. It won't matter but give him some credit on a fiery attitude in a playoff setting.

I dont see it really from either side. I am far from a Boston fan. Very far. And yea, I guess he pumped up his team but there is a good way to do that and a classless way to do that. And this was completely classless and bushleague as far as Im concerned. And what he did at Florida doesnt mean a thing now, IMO. I give him credit for a fiery attitude, sure, but not how he expressed it. The Boston players may not have backed off as far as scoring the ball in the first two games but I didnt see any of them standing over and Atlanta players while they were on the floor and taunting them.

                Payback Is A Bitch

Horford Is A Stud And Will Be A Perrenial Allstar -- If It Was A Scrub I Would Agree

Pierce Was One Of The 2 Guys Jacking Up 3's At The End Of Game 2

Shit.. I Love The Guy But Garnett Dosent Shut Up At All - He Is Always Jawing At The Opponents

I dont know, maybe you guys didnt see it, or maybe I am just in the minority here and I leave it at that. But Horford wasnt "jawing" at him. He was taunting him in a billigerant, ego-driven manner. And I just dont see how his potential to be a star in the league has anything to do with it. Pierce is already a star and I have never seen him do that. Guess thats the point I am trying to make. Yapping a bit after a made basket is one thing and it happens all the time and its part of the game, so on and so forth. But its not every day you see a guy stand over another and point and curse and whatnot. Then add to the equation the fact that Atlanta is going to lose the series in all likelihood and the fact that Horford is an unproven rookie, potential notwithstanding and I thought it was a ridiculous display. Thats just me I guess. And like I said earlier, I am not a Boston fan by any means, just want to make that clear.

If the Celtics need this BS artificial motivation they might as well pack up and go home. This type of taunting is garbage for ESPN and the media. On the court it's part of the game. It happens dozens of times each and every game.

When you're as good as the Celtics you don't get caught up with this type of BS. Your play does your talking on the court. Everyone in the media and here at BC was saying the same BS in the NFL last season in the 2nd Jets/Pats game. How the Pats were going to run it up on the Jets? How Pats were going to score 60 points? blah blah blah

Pats 20-10 as 21 point favorites.

It was your latter theory. There was no motivating factor for the Celtics.
