Shockey traded to Saints?

I don't like this from the Giants perspective. Boss played well for the 5 games Shockey missed but you can't base this on 5 games. Shockey is a Pro Bowler...yes, he can be a troubl emaker but I think you deal with him. Too talented and winning a Super Bowl without him may make him see the light. Plus, it then depletes your depth at TE. Boss is not a good blocker, Jacobs had issues running wide behind him...and Boss was a 6th round pick for a reason. As Parcells used to say, let's not put the kid in Canton yet!Three Jack's Record http://www.bettorschat.com/forums/sh...10#post1323910

That's a horrible deal for the Saints. Shockey is not, nor ever will be, the focus of an a good offense. Yet he thinks he should be. And he's coming off a serious injuries in addition to having been injured in the past. Saints should pass on this.WE SPEAK YOUR NAMES

First and most importantly, IMO Shockey is overrated. He's a cancer. I for one have tired of Shockey's antics. There's no disputing the team not only didn't miss him they were a better team with him out of the lineup.
Originally posted by Three JackBoss was a 6th round pick for a reason.
Kevin Boss went to a small school. Only played the first six games his senior year because he tore his labrum (cartilages around the shoulder joint) and had season-ending surgery on October 31st. He's a steal at the 6th round.
Here's two pre-draft notes prior to last seasons draft:
He's one of the best pass-catching tight ends in this year's draft. Oh, and he happens to be 6-foot-7 and has the speed to break a tight end screen play for a 69-yard touchdown. Learn more about one of this year's sleeper NFL Draft prospects whose stock is rising after a strong Combine performance.
Scout.com NFL Expert Tom Marino said that Boss "really put on a show" at the NFL Combine. "He's a natural catcher who extends well to the ball," he said. "And he's one of those guys who can pluck the ball out of the air, using a good ability to adjust to the ball ... A clutch receiver who really excels in the short-passing game. When he catches the ball underneath, he's got the size and speed to create problems for the smaller players in the secondary ... Raised some eyebrows at the Combine by posting the best three cone score of any TE at the Combine and finishing in the top five amongst TEs in all categories he participated in except the 40-yard dash (7th) ... high quality character guy.

You can pick guys out of every rounfd of the NFL draft and some can become stars. How many 6th round picks have there been TOTAL in the last 15 years and how many turn out to be productive NFL players...a very low percentage. Frank, you can't argue that the odds are against him...doesn't mean he can't and I am not saying he won't, but my expectations are not for him to turn into a Pro Bowler...what my true point is, that you are judging someone's potential on 5 games and, imo, the body of work is not nearly enough to rely on him as a starter just yet. I hate Shockey's antics and he has been injury prone. You and I are not in the clubhouse everyday so we don't know if he is a cancer...I agree with the perception but if he was, why would Eli, of all people, want him back? I tend to agree with you that the perception is that he is a bad guy to have around- doesn't participate in the off-season workouts, too demonstrative on the field, outspoken in the locker room...but we aren't there every day and their has to be a reason why Eli wants him around. Plus, from hat I have read in the NY papers, it sound slike he wants out more than Reese and Coughlin want him out.
Plus, it kills your depth at the TE position. Matthews can't catch a cold.Three Jack's Record http://www.bettorschat.com/forums/sh...10#post1323910

There's a few possible reasons Eli wants him. First, I believe it's a reflection of his laid back personality. Second, after the first NE game and throughout the playoffs we were watching a different Eli. Eli knows he's grabbed the respect of his teammates. Everyone in the locker room would tell Shockey to STFU if he started pouting.
As I stated in my initial post. I believe Shockey is overrated. He gets lots of media attention because of his antics. He's been in the league 6 years. IMO the way he plays he's on the downswing of his career.
If the Saints offer a #2 and another pick I'd take it. I would refuse a trade for anything less than a #2.

If they can get a #2 plus a player, which is what the Post was reporting earlier this week, I can see it. Some in the NO org only want to give up a #3 and no way I would do it for that..even a #3 and a player, still wouldn't.Three Jack's Record http://www.bettorschat.com/forums/sh...10#post1323910
