  • Vacation Spots For The Summer

Since it's almost Summer and it's slow around here, figured we could see where everyone was going this year.Gas prices are high but we all seem to still take that summer vacation.Who knows, some of us might be at the same destination this year.
We(my whole family except Tech Fan ) go to New Smyrna Beach in Florida the last week of June.Saturday to Saturday and we have about 12 of us down there.Great location being 11/2 hr from Orlando,30 minutes from Daytona and 1 hr from St Augustines World Golf Hall of Fame.2 good seafood places called J.B's Fish Camp and Norwoods.A great bar that is on the beach and has great food is Chases.Weekends are a party there. They have a pool on the deck and it gets rowdy I have to get some gambling in so we take a casino cruise one night out of Ponce Inlet and we hit the dog track in Daytona a couple of times also.
May be a useless thread, but what else do we have to look foward to.Name some bars and resturants in your locations cause I like to EAT and DRINK.

Daytona Beach Kennel Club is opening a beautiful and brand new facility. I'm not sure the ETA date.

If you like steak than New Smyrna Steakhouse is a must. They're one of the better steakhouses in the area.

Another good night spot is Beachside Tavern. It's on 44. About 1/4 mile west of the beach.

While in Ponce Inlet you should go to Inlet Harbor. It's on the river. Good food. Great atmosphere.

If you're going to play golf consider playing at Victoria Hills in Deland. It's about 15 minutes east of NSB. One of the nicest courses in the area. Another is LPGA in Daytona. They have two nice courses. Both Victoria Hills and LPGA are in good shape most of the year.

He can't get the whole week off so he don't think its worth the drive just for 2 or 3 days.He use to go but he hasn't been the last couple of years. We got drunk at the dog track and I swear we almost convinced each other to go out on the Speedway(Turn 1 at Daytona is right behind the dog track) and make a lap.We found a gate that was open at the Tunnel and I was like see,it's a sign for us to do it.Lucky for both our drunk asses we backed out at the last minute How many people could say they got a DUI at Daytona Speedway

That would have been one hell of a story to tell

Another must place to eat is The Garlic. IMO the best restaurant in NSB. It's on 44. A few blocks east of Norwoods.

If you like authentic Mexican there's a very good restaurant in the same shopping center as NSB Steakhouse. I think it's called Clancy's. Very reasonably priced.

Do you go to Flagler Ave in NSB? I'm sure you have. It's the street that runs from the ocean to the river. Lots of bars, restaurants and shops. It's a great place to go during the day for some shopping and lunch. Then a great place to party at night at Flagler Tavern and Traders.

I'm not sure when the new Daytona Kennel is scheduled to open.

I love to hit the Daytona Speedway around the 4th of July. Great night racing and I love all the necks out there.

                              Sorry for the multiple posts.

There's a brand new golf course at Venitian Bay in NSB. It opened in November. It's about 2-3 miles west of 95. It's scheduled to become a private course. I've yet to play. I've heard great things.
