JC, I don't mean this with any disrespect. I was talking about this subject during lunch. I truly don't understand the obsession with Tiger. Yes he's great. To me his greatness is boring. It gets boring watching the same guy dominate each week.

First, golf is different sport. You're playing against yourself. You have to concentrate on your own game and play within yourself. Worrying about the other golfers will only lead to trouble.
Second, in golf it's not uncommon not knowing how the other players in other groups are doing. They know at the pro level because they carry the scoreboards around. At the amateur level there's no scoreboards. You don't know the results till all the players are in the clubhouse. I've played in many tournaments when I had to wait for all the players are off the course to know the results. I'm sure it's not the first time Immelman played in a tourny not knowing how we was doing till he got to the clubhouse.
Third, It's a gentleman's game. I know no reason why Immelman would lie.
If you are playing golf, and are leading like he is, all you want to do is find fairways and the center of the green. If you are behind, you need to get into "scoring mode." You need to find fairways and have to go for pins.
I also agree on the great point of the crowd noise. Immelman knew Tiger, or anyone for that matter was not a huge threat.
But by not looking at the scoreboard could have been a huge mistake by Immelman. But at some point, I'm sure his caddie would have stepped in and said something to him."Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant'

Let me say that I am a tiger fan but I am a bigger fan of golf.
It bothers me when you hear afterwards well tiger didnt make any putts. Does anyone remember the fucking bomb he drained on 11?? Does anyone remember the 1 foot putt Immelman missed on #7 for birdie?? Tiger does this all the time as if he is he only one not making any putts. A few breaks for Immelmen and not hitting it in the water like a dumb ass on 16 he would have won by 6-7 shots.
Give the guy credit, he OUTPLAYED everyone. Stop it with the would of's and could of's, every player out there gets bad breaks, misses makeable putts and has it go there way sometimes - ITS CALLED GOLF PEOPLE!!!NBA is a joke

None taken Frank, cant explain it, just like watching him make a mochery of the golf course. I admire people who put so much effort into being the very best, i always have. To me if your winning, its never boring.
He doesnt have a chance when trailing Frank, he has never won when trailing after 54 holes, i knew he was done after 7 holes.
No big deal, you like golf and can appreciate every player, i like to see Tiger rule the golf world.
I still think he wins 2 out of the next 3 majors, i am hoping he breaks Jacks record.Questions, comments, complaints:

I'm a huge Tiger fan, and think he is great for the game. I am also a fan of the older guys like, Couples, O'Meara, Crenshaw, Watson, Norman, Lehman, Strange, Nicklaus, and many others.
I've watched golf for a long time. And I've played golf for a long time.
I'm not trying to be "Chuck" here, but I was offered to be coached for a year and to try out for the then Nike Tour. I passed on it for several reasons, but the main one was I already had a career in Police work in my home town.
Anyways, I always pull for Tiger. He is one of the greatest. But when he loses, I may be upset, but the first thing that run through my mind is "It's about time someone stepped up and beat him."
I was not bored at all with the Masters. Tiger had chances, he just couldn't putt, but could have made a move at any time. And as I said before, Immelman made a mistake by not looking at the leader board. That could have bit him in the ass, just like on 16."Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant'

It was much easier when you're not playing with your opponent. You can play your game. When you play vs. your opponent it's tougher. In addition to playing your game you're worrying about what they're doing.
Golfer at this level know what they have to do. They have to make their shots.
But I've played in tons of tourneys. High School, local clubs, scrambles, and once in the International Law Enforcement Games where I represented the USA and myself. It drove me crazy not knowing how I stood. I loved the fact that the pros had leader boards. I wanted to know weather I had to play my A game down the stretch, or weather I could just coast in.
I lost many of tourneys in the end by playing aggressive. If I would have known I had the lead at the time, I would have driven with a 5 wood or something safe like that. JMO
But this I guess is a personal thing. Whatever makes you feel comfortable on the course and makes you play better is for you.Last edited by Lsufan; 04-14-2008, 06:13 PM."Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant'

On the other hand. I think it's more important to know if you're behind. You need to know when to play aggressive. Take more chances.
When Immelman put his shot in the water on 16 it was done because he hooked his tee shot. It wasn't due to playing aggressive and taking unnecessary risks. Jean Van de Velde had very poor shot selection on 18 at Carnoustie.
Confidence is a huge factor. Immelman stuck with his driver. He led the tourny in driving accuracy. He stayed with what got him the lead. I think if he gets in trouble in a few holes with his driver he would have started using he 3-wood.
