Love Final Four Saturday even more than Championship Monday. This is where the drama is more often than not. Lots of great cappers up here have their opinions on the sides of these two games and I havent made my choice on the side for either game yet. But I do have a play I feel great about.
813/814 Memphis/UCLA Over 133 1/2 GOY
As great as the UCLA defense plays, and they do play great defense, Memphis is still a very special team on the offensive side of the ball. The only chance UCLA has to win this game is an uptempo, transition game IMO because in a constant halfcourt set, the bigger, stronger and quicker Tigers would dominate and I think Howland probably knows that. Texas coach Rick Barnes made a comment on Sirius radio this week that no matter who their opponent was this year, when they got into their halfcourt offensive set, they were able to do some damage. Well against Memphis, Barnes indicated that they literally had "no shot" in the halfcourt due to the defensive dominance of Dorsey in the middle and the on you like glue prowess of guys like Douglas-Roberts and Rose. UCLA has the athletes and the talent to run, but have chosen not to because in 99% of their games they dominated defensively, thus not having to. Well, this is the 1%. I like an uptempo game in which at least the winner gets into the mid to high seventies at least. And I dont necessarily think Memphis wins this game, if I did, that would be my selection. I think UCLA does things better than any team Memphis has faced, but doing it in the halfcourt wouldnt be their best shot at succeeding. Above everything else, overs are about making shots and I believe both teams make enough tonight.
Best of luck with whatever you are playing and enjoy the games.
