Joba's Fist Pump??

Ok, Mike and the Mad Dog and basically everyone in ny is talking about the joba fist pump. I want to hear it from you! Do you guys see a problem with him doing this? He never looks at the hitter and pumps his fist, he always turns to the side and does it and walks into the dugout. Let me know your thoughts on that.. Thanks

As long as he is not doing it towards the hitter, so be it. I have a bigger problem with the posers at the plate after they hit a home run. I am hoping that 1 catcher will have enough balls to get up & knock whoever it is over before they get to 1st base.

Doc i have no problem with the fist pump. I also have no problem with Manny standing at the plate and watching a ball. If it is caught or in play and he only gets a single out of what should have been a double, than that's a fuck up on his part, plain and simple. I have no problem with Chad Johnson or T.O. celebrating either. I hate that the NFL got rid of the team celebrations in the end zone after a score like the Redskins used to do years ago. I really don't have a problem with any of it and i know i'm in the minority.

I'm so sick of the "Typical" response of "Showing up the other team" or "Respect your opponent". I swear, old timers are the worst on this subject because they are hard headed and refuse to change their thought process on it. Back in the day, that's how it was. Well, people didn't get pregnant out of wed lock or live together before marriage either. Shit changes with the times and in the world of ESPN, Internet and a million others covering these events, it is looked at much differently. I have no problem with a Tomlinson handing the ball to the ref or Brian Westbrook dropping before the goal line to respect the opponent too. That is great and they are great players. Each player/person is different and that is what makes each game so unique.

I think alot of guys use the same programmed response they have heard for years of it's disrespectful but they are the same guys who laugh when T.O. grabs the Pom-Poms or something else. People love watching to see what's next and most are scared to admit it. I laugh my ass off at them and that includes Manny. I shake my head but i don't hate him for it. I don't hate Joba for it either and even though i'm not a T.O. fan, i used to love seeing the things he did.

It is a new era in sports and it is commercialized. That's just how it is. Old school says respect the opponent and (IMO), new school says if you don't like it, stop them. Don't strikeout, don't let a guy burn you for a TD and don't give up a moon shot to a hitter. I played baseball and football when i was younger and i loved the emotion and celebrations when things were going our way. It was awesome. I also watched the other teams celebrate often and it never pissed me off but it did motivate us not to let it happen again because we wanted what they had.

I know it is a long response but these things are talked about often here in "In game threads" and such. Everybody wants to suck the fun out of every spoort these days and as annoying as it is for them, it is twice as annoying for me to watch them laugh 1st and criticize 2nd.
