Midwest Regional Final - Ford Field (Detroit, MI)

#10 Davidson vs. #1 Kansas [CBS | 5:05 PM ET]

Davidson: There is no reason why 10th-seeded Davidson can?t pull off its fourth upset in 10 days. The Wildcats have taken down Gonzaga, Georgetown, and Wisconsin in the first three rounds. Stephen Curry has been a scoring machine and Jason Richards has been an unflappable playmaker. Curry is averaging 34 ppg in the first 3 games of the Tournament, and Richards owns 27 assists in those games as well. If Curry and Richards maintain their spectacular play with big men Andrew Lovedale and Thomas Sander giving away nothing easy inside - this year's most compelling tournament ride can continue all the way to San Antonio.

Davidson is 8-1 ATS in its last 9 neutral site games.
Davidson is 6-0 ATS as an underdog this season.

              Key Injuries - NONE

              PROJECTED SCORE: 68

Kansas (-9, O/U 144.5): Top-seeded Kansas will trot out all of the best features of Davidson?'s first three opponents: terrific big men, special swingmen, great playmakers and a remarkable man-to-man defense that allows its opponents to shoot just 38 percent from the floor. The Jayhawks have been on cruise control to get here; defeating No. 16 Portland State, No. 8 UNLV and No. 12 Villanova by an average of 19 points combined. Kansas is within one win of the school record set in 1986 and 1998, and are suppose to win this game, but must not overlook Davidson

Kansas is 7-2 ATS in its last 9 games overall.
The UNDER is 7-2 in Kansas's last 9 neutral site games.

Key Injuries - G Sherron Collins (9 ppg; knee) will play, but only scored 4 points Friday Night.

              PROJECTED SCORE: 77

South Regional Final - Reliant Arena (Houston, TX)

#2 Texas vs. #1 Memphis [CBS | 2:20 PM ET]

Texas: Texas shared the Big 12 regular-season title with Kansas and is led by a dynamite pair of guards in D.J. Augustin and A.J. Abrams. The Longhorns defeated Austin Peay and Stanford by a combined 40 points while not blowing a 17-point lead against Miami-Florida in the Tournament to get here. The problem for Texas is its thin-lineup, as the Longhorns don't go much deeper than seven players in their rotation. A.J. Abrams has been on tear from three-point land, but Memphis is the kind of team that can exploit an opponent's short bench.

Texas is 3-5-1 ATS in its last 9 games overall.
The OVER is 7-3 in Texas's last 10 games as an underdog.

Key Injuries - G A.J. Abrams (16 ppg; ankle) will play but was injured Friday night while scoring 12 points.

              PROJECTED SCORE: 69

Memphis (-3.5, O/U 144.5): Memphis earned its third straight trip to the Elite Eight with a 92-74 victory over No. 5 seed Michigan State - in what is being called one of its best performances of the year. However, coach John Calipari said he is expected a full-house of Longhorn fans with this game being played in Houston. Calipari continued: "We'll show up and play our game, but I think the pressure is likely going to be on Texas with its home crowd." The Tigers are deep and versatile, and must play together while be aggressive to quiet the expected hostile environment early.

Memphis is 3-8 ATS in its last 11 games overall.
The OVER is 3-0 in Memphis's 3 NCAA Tournament games this season.

Key Injuries - G Derrick Rose (14 ppg; eye) will play after scoring 27 points Friday Night.

PROJECTED SCORE: 76 (Side Play of the Day)

                March Madness: Elite 8 Gameday

Two more teams will punch their tickets to the Final Four on Sunday, as Davidson takes on Kansas in the Midwest Region and Texas battle Memphis in the South Region.

Midwest Region: Davidson (10) vs. Kansas (1)

The Wildcats pulled off another big upset on Friday night, eliminating No. 3 seed Wisconsin 73-57 as a 5.5-point underdog. Sharpshooter Stephen Curry was the hero for Davidson again with a game-high 33 points on 11-of-22 shooting. Twenty two of Curry’s 30 points were scored in the second half, as the entire Wildcats squad shot a combined 49 percent from the floor. That included an impressive 50 percent (12-of-24) from three-point range. Andrew Lovedale added 12 points for the Wildcats, and Jason Richards poured in 11 points in the upset victory.

The Jayhawks picked apart Villanova 72-57 as a 12.5-point favorite on Friday night. Kansas shot 52 percent in the easy win, with Brandon Rush pouring in a team-high 16 points. Russell Robinson added 15 points for Kansas, and Mario Chalmers chipped in with 14 points on the night. Vegas oddsmakers like Kansas to knock off Davidson in this matchup; the Jayhawks are pegged as 9-point favorites, with the OVER/UNDER listed at 144.5 points.

South Region: Texas (2) vs. Memphis (1)

The Longhorns rolled over Stanford 82-62 as a 2-point favorite last time out. Texas leading scorer D.J. Augustin had struggled through the first two rounds of the tournament, but he came alive against Stanford with a team-high 21 points to go along with five rebounds and seven assists. Damion James delivered 18 points for the Longhorns, and A.J. Abrams chipped in with 12 points in the victory.

The Tigers dominated No. 5 seed Michigan State 92-74 as a 5.5-point favorite on Friday. Derrick Rose led Memphis with 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting, while Chris Douglas-Roberts chipped in with 25 points on the night. Memphis is favored by 3.5 points by the Vegas oddsmakers in this contest, while the OVER/UNDER has been pegged at 143.5 points.

Guys, this was in my inbox first thing this morning. PM had a wonderful time and I don't think he'd mind this being shared:

I had a great time at the Red Sox / Dodger game Saturday night at the LA Coliseum. A great pregame show, and some unusual plays like a caught stealing play going from the catcher to the center fielder (2-8). I doubt if we will see that play again! A lot of the people I talked to at the game had stories of the old Dodgers of seasons past. The Red Sox did win 7-4, but this was a game where the score of the game was of minor consequence to everything else that was going on. They also had a great tribute to Vin Scully. It was a game enjoyed by myself and about 115,000 of my friends!

                          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                          Philadelphia at Cleveland (-3 1/2, 191 1/2)

The Cleveland Cavaliers don't have to worry about getting to the playoffs any longer. Starting the postseason on the road, however, is suddenly a very real concern for the defending Eastern Conference champs.

After clinching a postseason berth despite extending their longest losing streak in nearly four months, the Cavaliers look to help their bid for home-court advantage in the first round as they host the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.

Cleveland (40-33) secured its third consecutive playoff berth with New Jersey's loss to Phoenix on Saturday, but the Cavaliers' enthusiasm was tempered by their own 85-71 defeat at Detroit.

LeBron James, one of the Cavs' heroes in their Eastern Conference finals win over the Pistons last season, was held to 13 points and 4-for-17 shooting from the field as Cleveland shot 36.5 percent in the loss - its third straight.

The Cavaliers hadn't lost three in a row since their season-high six-game skid from Nov. 28-Dec. 8. James, who missed the final five games of that losing streak with a finger injury, hadn't lost three games in a row since Cleveland was swept by San Antonio in last season's NBA finals.

However, James seemed more concerned with Cleveland's ongoing injury problems than its losing streak after forward Ben Wallace left Saturday's game in the third quarter with back spasms.

"It's been really frustrating," James said. "Our team is based on consistency and trying to get momentum and it's hard to do that when you have guys coming in and coming out. We know it's part of the game, but it's happening to us at the wrong part of the season."

Wallace, a four-time Defensive Player of the Year, had missed Cleveland's two previous games with the same injury, but declared himself ready to play against the Pistons - the team with which he played six seasons and won an NBA championship in 2004.

Now, he likely won't play Sunday and his status for the rest of the regular season is uncertain.

"We just shut him down for a week, and it came back," Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said. "We'll have to talk to our doctors and see what they say, but I don't know what is going to happen."

                          Pick: 76ers

Dallas at Golden State (-5, 216)

The Golden State Warriors ended the Dallas Mavericks' season last spring, becoming the first No. 8 seed to beat a top-seeded team in a best-of-seven playoff series. Though the stakes aren't quite as high when the teams meet Sunday, the Warriors have a shot at delivering another blow to the stumbling Mavericks.

The Warriors look to catch up to the Mavericks in the crowded Western Conference playoff race as the teams square off at Oracle Arena for the first of two meetings in four days.

Dallas (45-27) has a tenuous grip on the seventh spot in the West, just one game ahead of ninth-place Golden State (44-28). Denver, which is idle Sunday, holds the eighth spot. Despite the fact that each of those teams has a winning percentage greater than .600, one will likely be left out of the playoffs as the ninth-place team in the conference.

If the Warriors win this game, it will result in a three-way tie for seventh place. If the Mavericks win, they'll pull one game ahead of the eighth-place Nuggets and two ahead of the ninth-place Warriors. Each of the three teams has nine games remaining after Sunday.

The Mavericks haven't helped their playoff chances by losing four of their last five games, including a 118-105 defeat at Denver on Thursday night.

"It is what it is," Mavericks guard Jerry Stackhouse told the Mavericks' official Web site. "We just have to keep playing and worry about the next game. This one is over. If it comes down to the last game and the tiebreaker (with Denver), we can only look at ourselves."

Thursday's defeat was Dallas' second full game without All-Star forward Dirk Nowitzki, who suffered knee and ankle injuries in an awkward fall during an 88-81 loss to San Antonio on Sunday. Last season's league MVP is expected to need as much as two weeks to recover.

That doesn't bode well for Dallas, which has lost two of three games this season without its leading scorer and rebounder and split the two games since Nowitzki went down Sunday.

Nowitzki's injury could be great news for Golden State, but the Warriors have so far failed to take advantage of the Mavericks' struggles by alternating wins and losses over the last two weeks.

Like Dallas, Golden State is coming off a damaging loss to Denver. The Warriors were outscored 15-0 in a crucial five-minute stretch spanning the third and fourth quarters in their 119-112 defeat Saturday.

"It doesn't get any easier for us," said Warriors coach Don Nelson, whose team follows this game with a four-game road trip, which includes visits to San Antonio and New Orleans as well as the season series finale against Dallas on Wednesday.

"This is going to tell who we are as a team, whether we are capable or not," Warriors point guard Baron Davis said.

                          Pick: Warriors

                            Boston at Buffalo (-155, 5 1/2)

The Buffalo Sabres are close to being eliminated from playoff contention just one season after winning the Presidents' Trophy.

Coming off another disappointing loss, the Sabres look to bounce back Sunday in their home finale and remain in the Eastern Conference playoff race when they face the Boston Bruins.

Buffalo's 4-3 overtime loss to Montreal on Friday was another blow to its already slim hopes of reaching the postseason after capturing the Presidents' Trophy with a league-best 113 points in 2006-07.

With four games remaining, the Sabres (36-30-12) are 10th in the East, six points back of Boston (40-28-10), which won 4-0 over Ottawa on Saturday and currently owns the final playoff spot. Buffalo closes out the regular season in Boston on Saturday.

The Sabres are on the verge of joining the 1969-70 Canadiens and 1992-93 New York Rangers as the only teams since 1967-68 to miss the playoffs the season after finishing atop the regular-season standings.

"Until we're mathematically out of it, or we falter, it's 'We have to move forward,''' said goalie Ryan Miller, who finished with 25 saves while setting the Sabres' single-season record with his 73rd appearance Friday. "We need a little help, but we need to help ourselves. So our mind-set is to take care of business and see what happens.''

Nathan Paetsch, Daniel Paille and Drew Stafford scored Friday for Buffalo, which blew a two-goal lead in the third period for the second time in three games.

After not squandering a two-goal lead at all in 2006-07, the Sabres have done so six times this season. In the most recent meeting with the Bruins on Feb. 8, Buffalo was unable to hold a 2-0 lead at home and fell 3-2 in a shootout.

"You look at the past, we were able to shut down and play solid defense,'' Sabres captain Jason Pominville said. "We've kind of slipped away from that, and it's cost us points lately. It's cost us games. And those points, we've needed.''

Boston, which looks for a fourth straight victory Sunday, is 4-1-1 versus the Sabres this season.

Tim Thomas made 34 saves for his third shutout Saturday for the Bruins.

"It's step up or go home,'' said Thomas, who is 2-1-1 with a 2.43 goals-against average versus Buffalo this season. "Fortunately, we seem to be stepping up.''

                            Pick: Bruins

                            Calgary at Vancouver (-140, 5)

The Calgary Flames are trying to make a run at the Northwest Division title. The Vancouver Canucks are just hoping to reach the playoffs.

The division rivals could have a hand in determining each others postseason fate when they get together for the first of two meetings in seven days Sunday in Vancouver.

Calgary (40-28-10) missed a chance to move closer to division leader Minnesota after falling 2-1 at home to Edmonton on Saturday night.

That loss left the Flames three points back of the Wild and tied with fellow Northwest rival Colorado for the sixth playoff spot in the Western Conference with four games remaining. All those contests will be on the road against division foes, including a regular-season finale with Vancouver on Saturday.

"Every game's like a playoff game,'' Calgary's Daymond Langkow said. "We just have to forget about it and focus on (Sunday) night's game.''

The Canucks (38-30-10), meanwhile, are tied with Nashville and the Oilers for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West. The Predators, though, hold the tiebreaker over the Canucks, who lost 4-0 at Minnesota on Friday for their fourth consecutive defeat and sixth in nine games.

"There's a lot of character (on this team)," Vancouver's Ryan Kesler said. "Right now we're going through a little adversity, but that's when we're at our best.''

The Canucks don't have much time to back up that statement with just four games remaining themselves. Though all will be played in Vancouver, the Canucks face Colorado and Edmonton without alternate captain Brendan Morrison, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in a 6-3 loss to the Avalanche on Wednesday.

Vancouver is 4-2-0 versus Calgary this season, but the Flames have won the last two meetings, including a 3-2 home win over the Canucks on Tuesday.

Friday's loss marked the second time in eight games the Canucks were shut out, while opponents have outscored them 15-6 in their last four contests.

Roberto Luongo was pulled for the second straight game after allowing four goals on the first 17 shots he faced against the Wild. Though he was recently back in Florida with his wife for the birth of their first child, Luongo has given up nine goals in his last two starts.

Despite his recent struggles, Luongo is 4-2-0 with a 2.32 goals-against average against the Flames this season and might not totally be to blame for the Canucks' poor play.

"The guys in front of him have to play better in every area,'' Vancouver's Markus Naslund said. "He's been there for us all year, and if it wasn't for him we wouldn't be where we are. It's up to us to play hard for him.''

                            Pick: Flames
