Picks for Monday

What bothers me is that being the contrarian sometimes that I am, I notice where on different chatboards a lot of people are picking against NY in round one.
I wonder how much of that is based on reality and a realistic appraisal of talent on both teams as opposed to merely the hope that NY and Steinbrenner hit the skids.
Sure hope everyone is right but I say NY in 4 at most(I am not wagering on this series as I have enough incentive to see the Bombers lose).

I would LOVE to see the Twins win but i just don't know if it can happen. Mussina on the mound and with the Yanks lineup top to bottom i don't see them losing game one which means Minn has to win 3 of 4 after that and i'm not sure people like Radke can get it done.

Wayne-I think in all fairness he put Manny in his place when Manny took a couple of days off. He was put back in lineup when Little wanted him NOT when Manny wanted;I liked that. No one is bigger than the team including Pedro, who sometimes thinks his sh-t don't stink.

I'm playing a 5 STAR on Twins game one. Santana will get the job done. With the domination of the Twins that Mussina and the Yankees have showen, this line should be over -$200. I think the Twinkies take this game and the series.

Hope you guys are right but I am not touching it.
Don't forget-Yankees have defeated Minn. 13 straight times going back to last season, and that streak in itself is enough to pass on Twins.
ps EZ in all due respect the line being too low or high theory in my opinion is about a 50-50 proposition.
Some people feel Vegas knows something that other don't when they see a suspiciously low or high line;others see line value;it depends on your thinking, and I doubt either way of thinking is better over time.
If Twins win, Vegas knew something, if Ny wins, there was good value in the line. jmho.

One final point-line is the "low"line in first game, if you want to call it that, is because Twins and Santana were red hot at end of years.
If this were not case, line would bet higher.
No matter what, I personally get burned when I go against streaks like this one,but as stated hope you guys who are picking Twins tomorrow for game and series are right.(the broad assumption I make is that Red Sox will win their first round and play winner of Ny/Minn, which is as much a hope as anything else on my part).

I just received a free 1 unit comp. from SuperLockLine(great source for comps) on Ny giving 1 1/2 runs in first game even.
In all due respect to John, who is also a great capper, I think I have to go with the Yanks pick, and hope that if Yanks win, it is not by just 1 run.
If Yanks lose and Sox win, well that's not so terrible as I am going to play this only as a 1 unit and will mean Yanks are on way to maybe losing the series.
Here's 1 that sounds tempting: Red Sox -146 in game 1 and then take back Oakland + 1 1/2 runs at -130. A middle could easily happen there.

I personally don't think the Yanks line is too low. It is the Playoffs and Vegas knows that all teams will have their best team on the field and they will be focused. The Regular Season lines are simply not going to be the same as a Playoff line because of the Stakes. Mussina under 200 is VALUE i think and they have people trying to make something more of a line then they should plus they know people want to bet the loveable twinkies... right?
I think experience and the lineup just add up to a game 1 victory here for the Yanks but gms. 2-5 will be WIDE OPEN!

Green Bay -4 (Buy 1/2) -120 ... I think the Packers Offense is the Healthiest it's been in 3 weeks and i don't see Favre having 2 straight sub par games in a row. He also eats this team alive when he comes to Chicago and this Defense of the Bears does NOTHING for me. They gave up almost 50 to a S.F. team that scored 12 home against Cleveland and 7 yesterday. I really think the Bears are bad and i can't go against Favre,Green and Driver to take Kordell and the Bears "D"? What else do they have anyway, not much. I think the home team will get some points cause G.B. doesn't have a great Defense either but i think it's better than Chicago's. So when G.B. has the better offense and defense i guess that leaves Special Teams and there is not a big enough difference there to make up for the other 2. Give me a pissed off Brett Favre over a scared Kordell Stewart tonight!

Looks like money in the bank on your teaser....nice call.

As far as the Twins/Yanks series, keep in mind....Santana and Radke have been 2 of the best in baseball the 2nd half of the season and are the major factor in their 2nd half resurge.

And I gotta agree with EZ, Santana will bring it tomorrow....not sure about a 5* but a great value bet despite Mussina's mastery of Minnesota.
